Me the resident stalker here.

How much hay and food do you generally go through a month.

I am not sure how much i should be ordering and i have a tendancy to overbuy lol so before husband comes home and has a heart attack i thought i should check ")

How many guineas do you have?

Vit C in dry food does degrade, so if you only have a couple then buy in small sealed bags rather than big sacks.

As for hay - as much as they like! If you've got a pair then big sealed bags of dust-free hay, I buy in bales as I have lots!

I have no idea on hay front maybe 2/3kg don't quote me on this as I don't keep track just buy when I run out. then I'd say for two pigs about 2/3kg of nuggets depending on how much they eat (how old etc..)

Aww thanks guys.

i will be getting two hence the no clue on current usage lol. never thought about the lots of small bags thing. that does make sense.

Thanks

Some bags e.g from Pets at Home give you a guide as to how many day's feed it contains (for 1 piggy).

You'll soon get the hang of how much they eat - a 2 or 3 kg bag to start with will last you a week or more.

Same with hay!

As for veg - they'll eat you out of house and home :))

It's trial and error really I have 19 and 4 rabbits so I go through 5 bags of hay a week they are large bags I can't get a bale as I've no back gate.

As for food they go through 3 bags of Wagg a week that is the 2Kg size or one Pets at Home 15Kg bag a month I'm currently using the Pets at Home museli as I want to see how economical it is. Can it last a month? Time will tell!

For 2 I would think 2 bags of hay a week and 1 bag of food every 2. :)

Bulk buying hay is very useful, and it works out cheaper in the long run. If stored well (in cool, dark conditions in a cardboard box ) hay can last 6 months or more. Many people buy bales of hay from local farms.

I buy a 22kg box of Oxbow hay, which costs £70 (including postage) and lasts my ten piggies about 2-3 months. For just two piggies, that same amount of hay would last a long time, the cost would be broken down very well. It stores well.

I buy 30kgs of dried food per month, sometimes more, for 27 pigs. I buy my hay in bales from the farm shop, and I have no idea how much it weighs, but they are meant for horses, and they last 2-3 months for 27.
