Ordered the boys a sample from the Happy Hay co, they arrived today, currently they are just offering meadow hay and rye hay but Timothy is on the way.
Am I right in thinking rye hay is too high in calcium to give as the main feed?
The meadow hay is lovely and green very fine, boys are digging in, I hope they like it as my allergies are much bearable with meadow over Timothy!

Have you tried orchard grass/hay? I buy mine from Timothyhay.co.uk and my two go mad for it! They have it in their litter trays as it’s soft enough to burrow/sleep in unlike their Timothy but might be a good one to try for your allergies! ☺️

No I haven’t! I was going to order a sample of that from healthy herby and give that a go! They went mad for that meadow hay, they went off the haybox one when we got a very brown box :(

That hay looks lovely! Our 4 won‘t even look at rye, fussy monkeys. We changed from Haybox to Healthy Herby timothy & orchard now and both hays seem to go down VERY well for now; especially the orchard grass. And they both smell absolutely lovely!

Our boys are loving the Timothy from healthy herby but I’m so allergic to it I cannot carry on like this, they didn’t seem fussed in the rye when I gave them some to try funny pigs! I will defiantly order a sample or orchard though and see how well that goes down!
