Twice this week I have removed pieces of hay from tiger's penis. Today it was a rather large piece and had gone quite far in. He only has hay in his hayrack but it does get scattered around the floor by him. I only cleaned him out yesterday as well so was no much hay around.

Can this cause problems or is it ok so long as I keep removing the pieces? I have never had this problem with george!

does happen especially to 'bottom draggers'... mine have it frequently and have had no problems at that end due to it...

This happens often to one of my boars. I check him every couple of days and its amazing the debris that is up there. If it is left unchecked it could be a problem but now you know you can check him regularly. You wonder what piggies must think of us when we go poking and proding at their privates!

If he is sexually alert and frisky, then this can happen.

It is a boar thing and perhaps in the wild he wouldn't get straw drawn into his private parts but in the confines of a hutch, then the chances are he will.

Just gently remove it, if necessary. Hopefully, as he gets older it will happen less.

My boys are rather frisky and sometimes certain noises coming from the neighbors female piggies can set them off. If this happens, I just separate them, but more often than not I will find ondd little bits and bobs stuck 'up there' or should I say 'down there'. I find it hilarious when I have to check and remove though, as my little sister comes in and says 'What you doing?' and the fidget and wriggle out of my hands, as if embarressed about what's going on xP

yes this happen regularly to my boars too, so regular checks must be done to prevent infections if removed gently all should be fine.
mine live on a layer of hay all the time so i check every other day.

One of my Boys Riley gets bits stuck 'in there' all the time.. I usually just gently take them out.. he is long haired too and quite often gets his hairs stuck in there. I have take to giving him a 'trim' around the area and on his back legs to try and stop this and it normally works...

However, just yesterday I was 'doing a check' and I've noticed he is looking a bit dry and cauliflower round that area..

Any ideas? I hope this isn't anything to worry about? and not an effect of my 'poking round' :(

I've had boars for over 10 years. I can't begin to tell you what I have found in their willies over that time! :red

You do sometimes need to check their boys bits! They get dirty, very smelly, surrounded by hair, dirt, hay! I just gently check mine & clean them as required. I usually get a lot of rude squeaks (their language can be really quite distgusting at times! :x Sadly I know where they got it from!)

But I have no doubts that once their personal belongings are all clean & clear, they feel more comfortable & are ready to go do their stuff again! Especially the hormonal piggies..... :{

Sorry this may sound silly but how exactly do you clean it? I noticed yesterday it was a little dry looking (like the start of dry skin) Is this something to worry about do I need any cream etc.. for it?

Personally I firstly turn the pig upside down. Wait until he is calmer, as they really don't like seeing the world the wrong way up! :{

Gently apply pressure slightly away from where the willy come out. You should find the willy comes out easily. You may have to move your finger & press gently again to let the whole of his willy come out. :o

I don't use anything excpt maybe tissue & water. Sometimes I just remove any 'debris' with my fingers, especially if it isn't too dirty. If it looks very dirty - especially if there is dirt or a lot of hair in the willy, then I will use a damp tissue. :{

Just remember to be gentle! Your piggy won't thank you for causing damage to his manhood! The chances are he will protest, but can you blame him?!?!?! Just try to keep him calm - talk to him & hold him safely. It doesn't take long, & your pig will (almost) thank you!

Good luck & my boys are sending their manly hugs & squeaks to you & your piggy xx>>>

If necessary, clean only with water. Remember, wild pigs don't have the use of creams and potions!

Thanks for all your help guys I managed to dislodge a large piece of megazorb and in return tiger did about 5 poos and wee'd on me! I stink now so am throwing my clothes in the wash and hitting the shower :)) He hated every minute and now will not forgive me for a couple of weeks he holds a grudge for a long time that one!

baxter's never had this problem
maybe he's not very well-endowed
i won't tell him though, he thinks he's such a stud with his two lady friends i wouldn't want to upset him :<>

My george has never had this either I gave him a once over too and nothing there and never has been. I think tiger walks low to the ground or something he is quite short :))

^ lol!
actually, the amount of bottom dragging baxter does i'm surprised he doesn't end up with all sorts stuck to him
he obviously thinks he swings low =}

I find the problem in th piggies I have had & currently have, is it is the hormonal pigs who have this problem most! Obviously when their willy is doing it's thing, it is more likely to get covered in anything & everything :{ (as well as the poor boy being mounted!:o) But some of my boys have the cleanest willies going!

I try not to say anything about it to my boys - I don't want them to get complexes! ha! ha! ha! :(|):(|):(|)

I only have this problem with Eccles, he is very calm though and lets me remove it! What must the neighbours think! Peter has hold of Eccles in the garden and I'm removing hay from his manly bits! Poor Eccles! ")

Hay doesnt really cause damage unless its in there for long or something, just keep checking up on him!

My adult piggy called Tommy (18 months) drags his bottom every so often. Its a sex thing.

I check him out every day because he nearly always has some straw stuck up there. The straw must be pulled out VERY SLOWLY or you may cause serious injury to the inside of his penis. Doing this alone is not easy because Tommy wiggles around. A friend is handy to have around at times to hold or do the slow pulling.

Ahhhh, the pleasures of our piggies, but we love emm.
