Looks like the weathers to blame for a likely hay and straw shortage this year. Might not be a big deal to piggy owners (compared to horse owners) but if you've got a few or run a rescue it would be worth keeping an eye on this as prices might start to climb. This report reckons its been the worst year in 25 years and prices may double this winter. rolleyes

We had issues getting hay at the start of the year from our local feed merchant due to shortages. This does worry my slightly as our outdoor piggies are given loads of hay to snuggle up to and I don't know what alternative would be suitable for the winter?

Are you able to stock up? Hay keeps for ages.
