Anyone have any good ideas for preventing hay from falling everywhere when you give it to them? I can keep it contained once in the cage, but the storage and the pulling out the hay always makes a mess.

I use a celebrations tub to take the hay from the box to the cage. I doubt you can completely stop the mess but using a tub helps a bit. Hay just is messy so it's inevitable that some hay will still get on the floor and probably get tracked around the house. I've found hay in my bed before 😂

Mine are in my shed so hay everywhere is not such an issue but I also use a container to collect up hay from its box to take to the cages

Yup same here, as well as pants, socks, in my hair and my toes! XD Think my flat has been a barn for about 11 years now, it just gets everywhere! Given up caring tbh, I’ve probably eaten it myself many times but at least I’m getting some fibre! XD

Mine are outside but we still get some hay indoors 🤷🏾‍♀️ Usually comes in attached to me or their heat pads. I try and ‘father’ it together when I’m taking it out the box. And then sweep up afterwards

Me too - It’s driving my hubby mad, he seems to think theres more in the house than in the pig shed - he has no idea!

It’s not too bad outside because I sweep it up into a pile round the side of the hutch - ready to go in the piggy bin. My daughter found hay in her bed the other day 🤣 and the husband complained about a few strands he found in our bedroom 🤭

Mine are inside but there's hay outside too from when I shake hay off fleece before washing. There's no escape from the mess hay makes 😂😂

It does get everywhere. . Work boots etc. . Don't start on poops. .
I don’t get many poops everywhere with the pigs thankfully! The chinchillas however :hmm:Bloody everywhere (much smaller than pig poo!) with them jumping so high and flying them about the place! XD Miss my chinchins but not the poo in my pillows! :))

Bless. . . My new two. . Mavis and Moo Zoom at night and poos fly . .
Lol.

Luckily we have a wood floor so I fill the hay boxes and then sweep it off the floor with a dustpan and brush. Poops get everywhere though. Mine all have floor time in turns and like to sit under the sofa, OH is on strict orders not to move the sofa in front of any one. I have a bad shoulder and can't move it after every floor session, it gets swept up 2 or 3 times a week when he's here to move it.

There's no correx up the front of Eddie and Elvis's cage so when they go zooming they kick poos straight out the cage onto the floor 😂😂😂
Yup, totally the same here without correx too! And Luigi’s aren’t the smallest of poopies surprisingly! :)) But at least all concentrated in one area to clean up I suppose! :)
