Ok so I'm suffering alot more with hayfever from the piggies hay than I ever have been. Does anyone else have any ideas how to combat this issue? I was thinking of moving the pigs onto fleece so they only have hay in a hay rack (can you get enclosed ones?). My nose is totally doing my head in, constantly itchy, but I refuse to not have pigs! xx

I'm terrible with the hay from the piggys, if i so much as breathe it in I'm sneezing for hours, my eyes get so sore, red and watery and my throat becomes painful from the sneezing, worst of all its hard to breathe.
i have now bought a pack of 10 dust masks (like the builders use, you can get them in the pound shops/wilkos etc) and if i have to dish out hay or clean piggies out, i pop on a dust mask. problem solved!

just make sure to scrub your hands well too after handling the hay in case you later rub your nose or something, and have 'hay dust' on the hands, that can start you off again. also maybe an apron to prevent the hay clinging to your clothes?

Have you tried one of those workman's mask thingies just for when you're dealing with hay? You can get them from B&Q, Wilkinsons etc.

I'm the same, I get bad hayfever and Timothy Hay is unbearale, I just can't stop sneezing. I've switched to Oxbow Orchard Grass and have no problems at all so it might be worth trying a few different hays.

I am only allergic to certain sorts of grass if the wrong grass is in the hay I come up in hives all over my arms. Antihistamine before I start (it does not affect my breathing only my skin) and then all is bareable. Gas mask sounds like a great idea but would also second the try some different types of hay option

i suffer too and my palms get itchy after touching some hay.mine are bedded on fleece though so i dont have that much out
