I have a guinea pig and I just noticed today that he tilts his head while eating and sometimes while walking. I have read that this can come from ear infections and I am really scared. I am planning on taking him to a banfield vet in petsmart tomorrow, but I wanted to know if anyone had any idea about how much they cost and what they will do for my little guy. More information on the head tilt would be nice as well. Thanks

Try not to worry! I know how scary it can be.
I have had two guinea pigs that have had a head tilt but unfortunately not due to ear infections. The vet has covered both possiblities in their treatment though.
The vet will most probably give an antibiotic injection and possibly a steriod injection too.
Is he behaving normally otherwise? eating and drinking well? Eyes appear normal?

i had a piggy handed into the rescue with a head tilt and the vet said it was due to an old infection that had never been treated. he now has a permanent head tilt but he is one of the happiest and best pigies we have. we made the decision to keep him as a permanent resident due to his head tilt.

please do not worry the vet will probably give him an antibiotic injection and steroid injection and he should be fine.
