I came home from work this morning to discover Enoch with an eye injury :( Thankfully I managed to get him an appointment and Eliza went along too.

Poor Enoch has a corneal ulcer most likely from a hay poke so he is on eye drops and metacam and Eliza is on a 10 day course of antibiotics as a precaution as her eye socket is slightly crusty.

Both piggies are back at the vets on Tuesday.

Please send lots of healing vibes. I can't go through this again :(

Massive Vibes and healing hugs... from all of our gang.. xx

Lisa & Ali..xx

Oh Clare :( Hoping the drops will do the trick, they sorted Cookies eye out a few years ago after a poke. Lots of healing vibes to Enoch x x

Oh no Claire, I just wish for you to have a trouble free month or two, I bet you have your own parking space at the vets eh?
Healing wheeks to Enoch and Eliza. :laluot_29:

Hope they are both better soon.

Poor Enoch! It will hopefully heal off as quickly as it has come on.

Sending your handsome boy some BIG VIBES!

Ohhh, so sorry to hear you have more eye problems :(

Everything here is crossed for Enoch & Eliza, wishing them both a speedy recovery :)
BUCKETFULLS OF HEALING VIBES & a Big comforting bear Hug for you.

Oh no! Couldn't believe it when read this! So sorry to hear and sending lots and lots of healing vibes. x

Thank you. Enoch's eye is still red this morning with the blue rim covering the ulcer :( Thankfully he is able to open his eye, it isn't watering and doesn't seem to be bothering him.

I just can't believe it's happened especially since I don't overfill with hay since Eliza moved back in :(

Lil, I already have a one eyed piggy. Eliza had an eye removed in September x

Lacey is joining in now, she knocked her scab off yesterday along with 3 stitches (yuck) and now its oozing. Off to the vets today anyway to have the stitches removed but I think we are going to have a few more issues before its healed, it looks a mess.....so empathy vibes on their way!

Oh no! Poor Lacey and poor you :( is it ouzing fluid or pus? Fingers crossed for her.

Eliza is worrying me too now :( I'm back at the vets with them both tomorrow.

Hows Biscuit? xx

It was oozing but not pus, just cloudy liquid. We don't think its infected. It took three of us just now to remove the last two stitches! I never heard a guinea pig growl before LOL!

The wound has healed but there is a hole either end which hasn't sealed up so it has to be flushed through each day until it heals....so me being a total wimp is taking her to my vet every morning before surgery and she is doing it for me! Its gross, I am not sure how you have managed so far! So I have one very annoyed, bored and fed up guinea. I cannot put any of the others with her as she attacks them and the boy who she doesn't attack tries to perform his own surgery on her eye socket so I have miserable piggy. I am hoping it will heal pretty quickly now though.

Biscuit saw Simon today, he is pretty sure its a fungal mouth infection, her tongue is swollen and has a white line on it bless her! So she is on Intrafungal and the lovely Debbie is keeping her for another week. Although they have let me down and her and her so called best friend have apparently been bickering....I cannot take them anywhere! Anyway, prognosis is good now hopefully, we'll know in a few days.

I wish you loads of luck for your guys! I am sure its just time. Fingers tightly crossed for you! x

At least most of Laceys eye has healed. Eliza is producing a clear fluid too that is drying a pale yellow crust. I am hoping its just serum as each new layer of skin grows.

I agree, it isn't nice having to flush. I took Eliza to the vets at first to have it done but we soon got used to doing it ourselves.

Good luck with Buscuit too. I am glad she is getting the right treatment and Debbie is lovely.

Trust piggies to show us up! x

Laceys was like that, clearish fluid but as you say, dried to a yellow crust. Exactly the same. I think it is part of the healing process, lets hope so for Eliza's sake, you have really both been through the wars havnt you?

Yes, I am quite shocked at their behaviour!

It's funny how they can change whilst and after being poorly. Hopefully both Lacey and Biscuit will settle down soon.

Thank you, I am hoping that's all it is too. My vet did suggest antibiotics just as a precaution for Eliza so fingers crossed.

i am just concerned that it is still weeping after all this time.

Enoch 's eye isn't looking so angry today.

Both Eliza and Enoch have been to the vets.

Thankfully Enoch's eye has healed nicely and he can come off the eye drops in a few days time.

It turns out that Eliza's eye socket isn't infected or if it was, it was minute.

Unfortunately it looks like her eye cavity will never fuse back together fully as it was left open for such a long time, the yellow crusty gunk is a mixture of serum and dead tissue which is likely to never go away but we can live with that. Overall my vet is pleased with her progress.

That was a more positive update, good news!

I think I am going through similar with Lacey. At the moment we are seeing the vet every morning before work to get it flushed through. yellow gunky stuff but we are sure its not infected. She is on Baytril just in case until Zithromax arrives tomorrow. I hope her's does'nt go the same way but it may.

I am desperate to get her back with the others for her own peace of mind, she is so lonely and sad but she fights anyone in her cage. I know she will be OK out in the shed but its not exactly clean compared to her indoor cage and fleece. We are going to give her a few more days and then may just take the risk as I am a great believer that mental helath helps to heal as much as anything else. Poor girl. She is sitting by me on the sofa whilst I work :)

It is kind of sad looking at Eliza but she's here and happy which is the main thing.

Poor Lacey. I think your vet would know straight away if there was an infection. With Eliza, she smelt really bad so much so the entire room smelt of the infected pus and the skin around her 'eye' was red and swollen before the decision was made to leave her eye open.

It it is sad seeing them not themselves. I loved having Eliza indoors with me but she wasn't happy being by herself. She got her voice back when I put the hospital cage back in the shed but it was a long process to get to that stage but it was worth it just to keep and eye on her and keep the area clean. I couldn't risk another guinea pig interfering with her opened wound.

I am sure that Lacey will bounce back when she is back with her friends but in the meantime, just give her lots of TLC which I know you are already doing.

I still think the fighting could be down to her feeling more venerable and hopefully she will settle down when she is feeling a little more secure.

Please keep me updated on her progress x
