Pink, our lovely mismarked Himalayan is booked in to our Exotic practise this evening for a consultation. She's had a URI and not responded well to treatment so need her seen again as she's lethargic and has been sitting in one spot most of the morning. Her appetite is ok but everything seems to be an effort for her so am worried it may be her heart as she's a big girl and quite lazy. Hate seeing her like this, all urine stained as she's such a clean girly and always spotless. She'll be 3 in March so still a youngster but something is niggling at me - we lost two seemingly healthy girls before Christmas and am still coming to terms with this so the thought of losing Pink is heart breaking
Paws crossed for my big softie and hope our Vet can work his magic again as he's done in the past for our babies :ple:

Poor Pink, hope you get some answers. Was she given diuretic last time?

No Helen, some Septrin and Metacam - I always keep probiotics in stock but she's had normal poops until today...bit 'gloopy' but could be the ABX. Not eating her hay gusto as normal. I'm going to ask about Frusemide etc. and have given her more watery veg to see if it helps - catch 22 really if it's oedema:( We've had great treatments from these Vets previously so hoping for a positive outcome later - Pink is such a big baby, not one for being handled too often so am dreading taking her  She's snug on her heatpad and am changing the vet bed every few hours to keep her as dry as possible :(

Lots of love and healing vibes to Pink Trace, let us know how it goes x x

Thanks guys - feel sick :(
Pink has just had some Burns forage but has moved very little...have to leave for the Vets soon and know she'll hate me for moving her but I have to do this. Lily, her buddy has not moved from her side all afternoon
Praying a simple injection or some meds. will get her on the mend.
Of course I'll update and thanks again...sorry for not being able to come tonight Lee - typical eh :(

Fingers firmly crossed! I hope that it is not the heart and that you can keep her with you a good while longer. Please ask for a diuretic.

Pink has had her meds. increased as found she has a nasty UTI and some sludge :(
Vet also found what he thinks maybe ovarian cysts so after she has completed her treatment for the UTI, will be booked in for the day for x-ray and possible spay :(
Some other lumps were found so have been warned they could be tumours or just enlarged Lymph Nodes from the infection so praying it's the latter.
Had a good chat about things and if she has tumours, our Vet is confident she can have quality of life with good pain management but need to take one day at a time at the moment. I'd never let her suffer and have total faith in the Vet treating her.
Pink is quite poorly but the large dose of ABX and pain relief is taking effect and from previous experience with poorly piggies, know this is the 'norm'. She's eating and pottering slowly around, giving her lots of her fave chopped veggies - had a nice bum bath last night as her usually spotless white hair was all smelly after the sludge was expelled. I tried her with a small amount of Recovery this evening as am expecting to hand feed 24/7 if she's spayed so at least it won't be foreign to her
She's cuddled up under her tunnel with her head resting on Lily, her best buddy and munching on forage between naps :luv:
Will keep everyone updated with things as they happen - feel as though the rug has been pulled from under my feet but will be doing everything we can for Pink

I hope that she will feel better in herself soon!

Hopefully, you won't need to hand feed much after her spay! Cariad only needed topping up a couple of times after hers and did eat normally within a few hours of being back home. She only lost what her removed bits weighed and even made up for them within two weeks.

Aww poor little mite. I really hope she recovers from the uri soon and it turns out she does not have cysts.

How is little Pink doing today? x

Sadly no improvement with Pink despite us pulling all the stops out for her, she is having tiny amounts of food and trying to syringe Recovery into her with little luck :( It breaks my heart to see her so miserable so may have to make 'that decision' and let her go...I'd never let any one of our piggies suffer and feel that she is too weak now :(
Syringing is almost impossible as she fights it and every tempting treat etc. is ignored - searching frantically for dandelion leaves to see if she'll munch on those.
Will keep you posted on Pink x

Huge hugs and vibes to Pink. x x
