Athena is very ill :( fed them this morning and found her hunched in the corner barely breathing. Took her straight to the vets who couldn't find anything obviously wrong bit said she was seriously ill and said we can give her things to try to get her through whatever she has but to prepare ourselves for the worse. She gave her an antibiotic injection and we've got probiotics, critical care, more antibiotics and zantac to give her so I've taken the day off to take care of her. She's not eating or drinking and isn't passing poo or urine :(

Please everyone send healing vibes

Oh no! Poor Athena, healing vibes coming your way :laluot_29::laluot_29::laluot_29:

HUGS!

I am sending you and Athena big vibes! I am so sorry to hear that she has taken a turn for the worst!

Thanks all, when we found her this morning her eyes were dull and barely open, I didn't even thinks she'd make it to the vets, she was just limp. She seems to have perked up a little now, her eyes are brighter and she's had a little sweetcorn and is eating hay. I'm trying not to get my hopes up too much though

:( poor Athena, sending all my healing vibes her way. Really hope she gets better soon. Love from Dottie, Mabel and Finley too :laluot_29::laluot_29::laluot_29::laluot_29:

aww lovely Athena, poor thing, hope she is comfortable, sending some healing vibes for your girl x

Oh no poor Athena. Keeping everything crossed for her.

Oh poor little baby. I really hope she can get through this and be well.

Thank-you for all your well wishes. I know she's a little fighter, she's proved that time and time again. I've just done a quick dash to the supermarket and spent a small fortune on buying anything and everything I think she'd like and she's currently having a tug of war competition with sandy over some sweetcorn. Still not trying to get my hopes up too much but the turnaround from first thing is unreal

Great to hear! Keeping everything crossed for her!

Well they've all just been fed and she was meerkating for her food and is tucking in along with the rest of them so I'm keeping my fingers crossed she's over the worst of it.

Does anyone have any idea what could have caused her to go downhill so quickly, and how she seems to be on the mend?

So glad that your last post gave better news that Athena has perked up.

Massive 'Get well, Keep well Vibes'

Athena seems to have taken a turn for the worse overnight. She's still alert and eating, but walks a couple of steps then lies down and is very unsteady on her feet. I've given her some osteocare this morning but I've had to come to work as I have no more holidays left to take. Going to pop back on my lunch break for half an hour to see how she's doing.

Sorry to hear Athena has gone down hill Gem :( i have no advice to give but still sending her all my healing vibes.....

More healing vibes for Athena. :laluot_29::laluot_29::laluot_29::laluot_29:

Really hope she's ok. I know how hard it is to go to work when you have a sick pig at home.

So sorry she's taken a turn for the worse again, I can't help with any advice but sending HUGE get well vibes for her and hugs for both of you xx

(I can well relate to getting the favourite veg from the supermarket, I went round the vegetable aisle on the verge of tears last week as I was sure Rosie wasn't going to make it but she seems to have come through . . . . I do so hope for the best for Athena)

Well I popped home on my dinner and she's pretty much the same. It's really odd, I got her out and popped her on the floor on a throw and she ran back to the cage and looked fine, but once she was in the cage she went back to kind of sitting strange and moving funny. She kept lifting her paws as if they were uncomfortable to put down, but it was both front paws so I picked her up and checked her over, checked all the movement in them and they looked fine? There's nothing visibly or obviously wrong that would be causing this.

I rang the vet and they said it could just be the drugs are taking a couple of days to take effect so to monitor her, call them tomorrow with an update and we'll decide then whether to take her back in or not as they're reluctant to prescribe too many different medications at once.

She's still eating fine so at least thats something
