Thanks to everyone for their replies regarding our beautiful piggy Oreo and his on-going visits to the vet. He seems fine at mo after a couple of weeks on Frusol, but will probably be off on another vets visit in a couple of weeks to start heart meds/xray.
Helen 105 please could you let me know where I can read the article on heart issues that you recommended. Anything to gain more knowledge/information about this condition is really useful.

Hi, I will pm you the link as it is on my friend's website.

Glad he is responding well to the Frusol. I think the main thing to consider is that the dose of ACE inhibitor needs to be sufficient, a lot of vets start way too low and because pigs have such a fact metabolism it is out of their system before it has a chance to work.

Great! Thanks in advance for that. Think increasing dose certainly produced positive results. Just got to keep a close eye on him now, and fingers crossed we ll be able to enjoy his company ( and Twiglet's as well. He's the beautiful brown one on the left and Oreo's partner in crime lol) for a long time to come.

Hi just a quick update on Oreo's ongoing visits to the vet. Frusol stopped a couple of weeks ago and we noticed his breathing was becoming more rapid, so off to the vet yesterday! He is now back on the Frusol , 0.3 ml twice a day for a few days until breathing improves, then 0.2ml twice a day just to maintain reasonable breathing rate. Don't think it'll ever be 'normal' and same as Twiglets. And we've started him on Fortekor, 0.25mg (half a tablet) once a day. We'll just have to watch him and see how he goes. Bit trial and error really. He' s such a good piggy! And much loved.
