Hi everyone, I have a 5 year old male piggie and three days ago I noticed he was breathing fast (as if he just ran a mile). I took him to the vet and they could not figure out why he was breathing heavy (no uri, heart sounded great, ect.). The did notice he had bloat and gave me med's for that. His bloat is cleared but the breathing is still rabid. He is pooping eating and drinking normal. Has anyone else had this happen and if so what was the outcome.

How did they check his heart? Not all heart issues can be detected by stethoscope and a conscious x-ray is needed to see if the heart is enlarged.

Does he sleep heavily at all? Heart pigs can be difficult to rouse from sleep. Has he lost any weight? Or does he have trouble gaining weight?

What is he bedded on? Just want to rule out allergens.

They checked his heart with a stethoscope, he is a light sleeper, his weight is still the same and his bedding is carefresh. Gaining weight is not a problem for him.

I would go with what Helen says, get a conscious x ray done, that what how my piggy was diagnosed with heart failure & build up of fluid in her chest, because her breathing became more noticeable.
