Hello all! First sorry if I’m posting this in the wrong section, this is my first time on here but I’m hoping someone can offer some advice. Our family just adopted the cutest little Guinea Pig “Winnie” on Saturday. He has the best little personality and we love him so much already! The only concern we have right now is his diet. We provide hay every day all day and a small amount of guinea pig bag food. He will eat romaine lettuce and carrots but other than that he has refused any other veggies I’ve offered. He smells them and walks away leaving them to rot! 😆 I’ve offered bell pepper, zucchini, cucumber, cabbage, kale, broccoli, celery, parsley, cilantro, grapes, and apples.... sigh. He wants no part of anything unless it’s romaine lettuce or carrots! Is that ok? Is there something I’m doing wrong? I figure his previous owner offered little in the way of veggies or he is just extremely picky. 😬We have never had experience with guinea pigs before but have the desire to learn and give the best care possible for our new furry family member. Any advice is much appreciated!

Hay needs to be the biggest part of his diet.
Veg is one cup per day
pellets is one tablespoon per day

carrots and fruit should only be fed once per week as they are high in sugars and kale, parsley and spinach should only be fed once per week also as they are high in calcium.

He needs to learn what veg is safe to eat and that will take time.
Does he live alone? If so, then do get him a friend. They should always be kept in pairs, single piggies get lonely. Being with a friend will also help him learn what is safe to eat.
