Hi! My little cinnamon has been under a vets care for loose stools for almost 2 months has been on critical care and stools seem to be improving however just now I noticed a distinct red tinge to her urine I will be calling vet at 8am when they open but is there anything I can do for her in the meantime she cries sometimes.

You've done the right thing by arringing a vet's appointment. I hope she's OK

Aww, I hope she's ok.

We're having a bit of a time atm, we've got one boar with possible IC, another with kidney/urethral and bladder stones and a sow that probably has ovarian cysts. First on cystophan and painkillers, second on painkillers and it's not looking good for him (according to vets we've shown his xray to) the last has her last hormone injection on Tuesday.

Awwww I'll send good thoughts your way for your piggies. The vet said hopefully only uti but if still blood in tuesday would red an X-ray which is $200 and if stones would need surgery! I'm praying just a uti she is in Baytril and metacam now

Hope the uti clears quickly for her. You may want to consider asking the vet fir a different antibiotic like septrin. Baytril commonly causes upset tummies which would not be good for her already soft stools. You could try supplementing her by syringing a bit of probiotic shortly after she has her Baytril

I had something very similar with nips this year. The vet prescribed septrin and loxicom and I bought some probiotic from pets at home too. After it not clearing up for a few weeks the vet recommended I carry on for another month before going down the X-ray route. She gave me some sticks to get a wee sample on and it shows whether the blood is still present. Fortunately it's all cleared up and no X-ray was required.

Ohhh so happy for little Nips hoping we have similar results!

Just an update for all nice enough to be concerned. Cinnamons poos are looking more normal now and while I don't see blood in her urine like before the color is a bit orange. Can Baytril cause that?

Don't know about that but just because the wee looks normal doesn't mean to say the blood has gone completely from my past experience. Can you get a testing stick from the vets to check its completely clear?

I actually have the urine sticks for people would that work the same? How do you go about getting a sample?

I've no idea if the people sticks are the same. I basically sat and waited. Mine always start backing up so I'm warned when a wee is on its way and then it's just a case of holding the stick under there. The vet did say that it's whatever the stick reads in the first 30 seconds is what you should go by (it may have been a minute, I can't remember exactly).
