So some of you may know about our Toffee. She has internal fluid filled tumours/cysts, one around her urinary tract and one on her womb. She's not bothered in the slightest by them and is a happy healthy girl otherwise.
Today when picking her up we noticed a small amount of foul smelling brown discharge coming for her rear end. It has stained the fur slightly (she's white around that area) but certainly doesn't seem to be free flowing and has wiped off, leaving perfectly normal looking lady parts.
She is eating and drinking normally, pooping and weeing fine and happily running around as normal.
What could this be? It was quite watery and a browny pink colour, certainly not fresh blood.
She'll be going to the vets tomorrow who know her and her history, but any ideas until then?
Thanks :)

Good that you have booked her in! It is impossible for us to say and requires a vet to investigate.

All the best for your trip!

Oh no bless her! Hope it all goes well at the vets and in the meantime just keep a close eye on her to make sure she doesn't deteriorate

Awe bless her, she's in the best hands. Everything crossed for her here! xx

Hope everything goes well for poor Toffee!

So an update!
Toffee went to the vets earlier, and as usual the vet was brilliant with her (we're lucky to have her nearby, she's very cavy-savvy!)
She had a good feel and actually the cysts have shrunk substantially since she became a free range house pig; we're thinking all the running around and popcorning may have helped somehow. The vet says she's in great condition for a pig her age and she's also gained quite a bit of weight; she's now at exactly 1kg!
However she had a good feel of her bladder which seemed to give a fair amount of discomfort. There was a fair amount of watery blood in the cage this morning and the vet seems to think it's a UTI. She couldn't feel any bladder stones or crystals and her wee is fine calcium-wise. So she's on Metacam 0.15ml once a day and Baytril 0.3ml twice a day for a week and then we'll go from there.
She was a little star bless her; she's had a munch on some parsley and is having a nap now with Fudge.

All the best! You may find that feeding some mildly diuretic veg like cucumbers, lettuce or dandelion in the first 2-3 days can help flush the bacteria out a bit more quickly and therefore help ease any discomfort. Just don't overdo it as you do not want to end up with diarrhea or bloating!

Great idea, thanks Wiebke, she loves cucumber and dandelions anyway so that shouldn't be a problem haha!

So another update!
Toffee still seems fine in herself and the blood spotting is becoming less and less, thank goodness! Hopefully she's properly in the road to recovery now ;)
