hi everyone

Not posted for a while but need help.

Just had floor time checked Craig's eye a huge piece of hay in it and looks half shut and a bit weepy. Iv bathed it n got the hay out but wondering if there's anything else I can do obviously can't get to a vet right now x

Any advice appreciated I'm a bit worried x

Personally, I would see an emergency vet. The eye could be ulcerated and Craig will also need pain relief. Eye pokes are horrible. I'm sorry this happened.

Do you have any pain relief? if so could you call the emergency vet and see if they will agree to you giving him some? He will need to vet as soon as you can get him seen, so they can put a dye in to check there is no damage and they will most likely prescribe something like Fucithalmic drops.

I can't get to the emergency vet because I have been drinking and can't drive. Iv got some fucithalmic drops in but they have been opened and are probably over 12 months old so don't want to chance it. I haven't got any pain relief in, I'm just making a saline solution with boiling water and salt to bath it my vet is running a clinic for an hour in the morning I'm going to have to get to that I'm so gutted I never drink and decided to have a drink tonight and then this has happened

Poor you! Fingers firmly crossed that you can have him sorted first thing tomorrow morning! these things always happen at the worst moment possible. :(

How about calling the vet and see what they say? If they want to see Craig then could you get a taxi?

Iv just rang the vet she just told me to clean it with water and get him to the vets first thing. She said I could of took him tonight but obviously I can't drive. Taxi would cost a fortune my emergency vet isn't close. ill keep my eye on him in the night if things get worse I'll just av to get a taxi. He seems ok in himself but i can tell it's irritating him and its a little red I'm not happy with it so he will b straight to the vets at the first given opportunity. Thanks guys. Hope you are all well. I joined this forum 5 years ago and my boys are 5 years old now and I have had so much help and support off the forum over the years x x

Thank you I'll post on here and let you know how he is. I won't sleep a wink tonight I'm Dedo on pig watch x x

Haha I know it's made me smile that you have remembered that. He's half pig half human my david he's a piggy high jumper x x

Have never forgotten as I am always trying to get mine to do it but they won't.

Haha that's ace. I think david is a bit of an abnormal guinea pig I was so shocked the first time he did it then he kept doing it we couldn't stop him hahahaha x x

Morning everyone been to the emergency vet he has got a tiny ulcer on his eye, it didn't show up at first when he dropped the dye in but had shown up 5 mins later. He's given him a shot of metacam and some fucithalmic drops. I'm guna treat him for a week and then I'll take him back for a check up. Fingers crossed he's ok x x

Healing vibes on their way to Craig... :luv:

Hope Craig's eye is looking better this morning. Let us know how it goes.
Strange; the same thing just happened to my Maya last night. Have been bathing the eye in cold water. Might take her to the vet tomorrow.

Hi all he seems ok in himself, eye still a bit watery, he's seems to be eating etc I'm keeping my eye on him I feel really upset that he's had to go through this

Poor Craig. It was just an accident and you shouldn't feel guilty you've done the right thing getting him checked at the vets. Hope he's feeling better soon.

Thankfully, eye injuries heal quickly, provided you get the right eye drops. You can distract him with some of his favourite food if you find it difficult to get the drops in! it is usually much easier when they are absorbed in munching.
