Hiya I need some advice,iv got a Guinea who's got a bit of crusty in his eye, just looks likensleep dust at mo but the reason I'm worried is his brother had eye infec last week and was given drops from vet but died before treatment finished. They only 15weeks old so did not die of old age.Does this look like normal sleepy dust or start of infec?xxIMG_20170301_114945.webp

Hi!

It looks more like the remains of milky cleaning fluid rather than the beginning of an infection, so please take a deep breath. It is normal to be more jittery after losing a piggy. If you see a lot of watery effluent and especially if you see a squinty or drawn in eye, then there is some kind of irritation in the eye and if it is suddenly looking smaller than the other, then it is painful.
If the crusts are thick, yellowish or greenish, then you are dealing with a respiratory infection.

Please get your piggy a new same sex companion once the two weeks safety quarantine is up. The Littlest Rescue in Bristol is likely your best place for dating to make sure that your piggies like each other and get on.
