Hi,
i was clipping the nails of one of our guineas, and I think one nail I’d already done got caught in the clippers by accident and got clipped much shorter. Ive clipped their nails before fine, there were two of us, but he was very wriggly.
It bled what seemed like so much - I feel terrible. I dipped his paw in saline and then in alcohol solution. It is not bleeding any more, and he is wandering around the pen and eating lettuce happily. There is no chance of getting to a vet this evening but I could take him tomorrow.
my question is has anyone done this before and what could happen? Does it heal quite easily? if he seems ok and the bleeding doesn’t restart should I take him to the vet tomorrow, or wait and see? We’ve cleaned the cage, but given that he pees and poos and then basically lies in it, I’m worried about infection. Shall I do the saline and alcohol again later/tomorrow or just leave it alone to scab over if it seems ok?
thanks :-(
