For the past couple of nights when i've been going 2 bed 1 of my guinea pigs seems 2 be squeaking on very loudly and it's annoying when you are trying 2 get some sleep she even does it about half 5 in the morning please help if you can thanks

Can you put a fleece or beach towel over the cage so it is not so much affected by the early morning light?

is this a new thing or something that has been going on for a while?

if its a new things its poss she could have a water infection and is getting pain when passing wee,if it is she maybe doing it most the night but your fast a sleep so may not here her..

if that makes any sensemallethead:))

what is she doing when she does it?is she standing at the bars?or bum up against a corner?

sorry just seen you said a couple of nightsmalletheadmalletheadmallethead

if she does keep doing it maybe a vet trip would be in order just to check she doesnt have a water infection or mites x

Thanks for your comments she does it when looking at the bars on the cage and last night she done it again but set the other 2 guinea pigs off. I would love to have them down stairs but I've also got 3 cats and I dunno how they will react with the guinea pigs down stairs

I would go nuts sharing a bedroom with my piggies... Bo romancing and the girls protesting, Mette-Marit running crazy laps and Martha wheeking for food at the slightest rustle... Pigs don't sleep all night, they seem to be on an on and off mode throughout the day and night it seems.

Earplugs? :))

Yeh my guinea pig is on it's own I've tried putting her in with her sister but they fight and I've tried getting a new guinea pig but she started fighting with that one so I had 2 get rid of it

Is her cage next to any other piggies cages? I think some company of some sort may help. And she always has plenty of hay to eat? It could be worth trying to introduce a "night time hay" - any different hay type that you choose to give just before you go to bed, so that you know she's got plenty to eat and with it being a different hay type to what she gets during the day, encourages an interest in the hay instead of in wheeking during the night.

I think I've been lucky, I've had pigs in my room for 7 years and only been woken up by them a few times.

Hunky boy ?

Just an idea have you thought of trying her with a neutered male, sows react very different to a hunky boar! :(|)I rehomed Sally two months ago ...poor sally 8... brought back several times to a rescue centre by disgruntled owners who wanted immediate bonding (Thats another things you can get some spatting with sows and have to let them sort the dominance out as long as blood is not drawn) she would not have other sows adults or babies but i decided to give her a chance..i like a challenge and paired her up with my 7 month old neutered boar.Talk about love at first site not one grumble and she loves him to bits and he her !!
Many rescue centres have neutered boars for rehome or check out guineapigrehome.org

1 of mine was in my bedroom and always always did it when i turned the light off to go to sleep, but now he is in the other room with a rabbit and another guinea pig, still seperate cages and doesnt do it all!

Maybe just trying another room would help?

Yeh I have put her in my mams room to see if that will help and her cage is across the way frm her mam and sister. She always squeaks on when she hears you going up the stairs some nights she doesn't bother me but it's the nights when iam so tired and all I want to do is sleep

Hmmmm i dunno .. maybe give her something small to chew on just like abit of carrot, something to distract?

both my girls wheek throughout the night and wake me up endless times, i find food helps as long as you can sleep through the chomping :)
