After doing their last cleaning out i was putting one of my Boars back into his cage, and he bit my fore finger, and it was very very sore :'( :'( :'( :'(
I am not ashamed to say i cried quite a bit and my OH had a snigger , then realised how sore it was and comforted me :-\ :-\

It is ony just getting a bit better 3 days on now, it went septic with pus and swelt up, i felt such a silly one! :embarassed: :embarassed:

He has become quite agressive towrds the other guineas when they are all in the run Toffee has to be seperated from the rest as all he wants to do is attack them, and it is very unsettling for them, and not very nice to watch. He was ok and well behaved until the girls are anywhere in sniffing distance, we aren't niave to know that he is at the age where he can be trying tro become the more dominant one of the bunch, but it has happenned quite out of the blue.

Any ideas?

I'd say that if you have a habitat of boars and then put girls anywhere in "smelling distance" then your boars reaction was fairly normal - he wants the girlies.

I agree this sounds to me like frustration, he s a bit randy. maybe move the sows well away from the boars and see if this helps. Igf i were you id wash your hands too and if you give them cuddle change your clothes so he cant smell them on you.

hows your finger now? was it a deep bite? :o

Thanks for your input, i hadn't handled any of the pigs that day, my husband had tho, i was the one doing the cleaning of the cages and pens in our shed. The girls are in the shed in the pens we have made and the boys are in the cages about 2 foot away on the other side of the shed.

My finger is slowly getting a bit better, not just as sore, but it was quite deep, it is the shape of an upside down T. ::) :o

I still can't believe toffee actually bit me, thats me spouting to friends that they are very friendly wee things and that they are much better behaved than hamsters etc in the biting stakes anyway ^-^

Ouch ! glad your fingers getting better. If he hasnt show aggression before its definately the girls being around

Any animal can bite, my boy grabbed my finger with his teeth he didnt bite through just to say stop smoothing me I'm not in the mood ;D my boy is a bit of a grumpy one , i guess you get the sloppy ones , the wild ones, shy ones etc ......

You dont expect such hard work with lil critters ;D

It definatly sounds like its the girls thats causing him to behave like that.
Am i right in thinking you have one hutch on top of the other and the girls are in one and the boys in the other? (sure i saw a pic you posted some time of your hutches)
If they are like that it could be that he has matured and your girls have come into season

Hi sokel this is where our Guinea Pigs now live, You are correct in saying we have two hutches, one on top of the other, but since the weather here in Southwest scotland gets chilly and rather wet at this time of year, my husband and i have made divided runs in our shed and have put our indoor cages in there also, so that they can all hear each other and know that their wee friends are still close by. We still have the outdoor ones, and will use them again come the better weather, can't have them getting cold, ideally we could do with a much bigger shed, but maybe in the next year or so.

This is where our boys live they are on the right side of the shed

And this is where our little ladies live

I am hoping that is was just a one-off with Toffee, he doesn't really like being lifted much, and when he sees they hutch or cage under him he can be quite the little wriggler
