Hi I'm new to this, i recently got given a guiniepig and he's gorgeous but since picking him up and taking him home i realised that he had severe diorrea as he was using hay for bedding i didn't notice the sloppy pools until i used my fleece bedding. He is very alert eating and drinking water and pellets ive tried stopping veg for now andno difference ive only had him 2weeks today my friend is a vet so he has had probiotics and it didnt work also he is finishing a 5day course of baytrill dtill no improvement in the poop situation hes bright enough and not under weight ears and eyes bright what could be wrong with him pool he keeps standing in and quite whiffy but keep cleaning his paws and cage.I know he had flavoured water in his bottle when i got him could it be that maybe 2week on.Sny afvice would be helpful

Have you taken your guinea pig off all fresh food for the time being and are you weighing him daily to check the food intake?

If the normal approach doesn't work, please consider having a fecal float test done to get to the bottom of what is causing the diarrhea. Did you get your guinea pig from a private person or a shop?

Poor boy - it may take time to correct the malnutrition, but it is also important that you check that he hasn't got any nasties in his guts. Your vet may also wont to consider whether worming is an option based on his findings. Please don't do it yourself on spec.
