I've bought an Omron C28P Nebulizer to use on of our piggies who suffers constantly with URIs. My vet has told me to initially start her with 5 minute sessions.

I was planning on using it with pipe leading into a plastic box as I don't think the masks or nose piece will be OK to use on a piggy. Could anybody please help with a little practical info on using this. @helen105281 @Abi_nurse Thanks xx

I use a plastic carrier box, covered in clingfilm. With the door you can either clingfilm the door itself, or clingfilm over it all once the pig is inside.

Poke the end of the unit through the clingfilm and voila. I usually prop it against a book so it doesn't fall over.

If you're using antibiotics them go with the times the vet says, but if it's F10 or salinr solution 5 mins won't do anything. I had to do it 30 mins 3 x a day on occasion.

Thanks @Jaycey. I was going to use a plastic box with lid but I think your method would be much easier. I've read elsewhere to give 10 to 15 minute sessions as it's just F10 so will go for 15. Mine has the outlet at the top but there is a nose piece which I could use to feed it into the carrier x

Good luck @Stewybus! Once I got used to setting it up, and piggy was used to having his breakfast and/or lunch in it, it all worked pretty well.

My vet was the one who told me to go for longer time periods. See how your little one goes and in need be you can discuss with the vet about increasing it some more x

Rhubarb - Nebulizer 2017-01-16.webp Thanks, I've just done her 1st session & she was totally unphased by it all. I ended up giving her 20 minutes. It seemed to work as she was wheezing when she went in but not when she came out. I'll give her 2 sessions a day for next couple of days then seeing her vet on Wednesday to discuss further sessions x

Rhubarb has had 4 days with 2 x 20 minute sessions per day & is now fine. She's also been on Baytril so not sure which has cured her. At first sign next time I'll use the nebuliser first x

Excellent! Some people aren't advocates of using nebulisers adhoc, but I was told to do it by my vet and I do think it helped.

My pig didn't show any signs of infection so we went for the nebuliser approach and it seemed to keep him breathing better.

I hope your little one continues to get better x
