Currently trying to find alternatives to high calcium leaves and have seen Lollo Biondo and Lollo Rosco lettuce leaves for sale in ASDA - Are these ok for piggies?

Putt doesn't like Romaine, Rocket or Little Gem so have ruled them out.

Does anyone know any other types? I know they shouldn't have Iceberg but wondered if other types are ok?
Thanks

Thanks Nutmeg. I am going to pick some up tonight. Was it easy to grow? Slugs ate our last attempt at growing any leaves....

Really easy. Before I planted them out I collected loads of egg shells then put these crushed all around them so the slugs wouldn't go across them to the plants. It worked quite well, although the odd little blighter found its way through! lol xx

Slug minefield I like it! May have a go this springtime!

Is there any other lettuce apart from Iceberg that is bad for pigs do you know?

Don't think so. It's a pity they don't like romaine though, because they are supposed to be the best nutritionally. xx

There really isn't much calcium in lettuce - it's all water. The whole concept of a high calcium vegetable is a bit weird. Compared to the fortification in pellets even that in something like alfalfa hay is tiny.
