I have a question. So my mom bought two bags of hay from the pet store because there are just a few hays left in the pet store. In order to sterilize the hays, she put them in the back yard on the floor. She kept the two bags of hay outside for about six hours with high humidity. Will the hay be had mold or molded or mold? I know today is gonna rain so the humidity is so high. I am afraid the mold keeps developing in the bag even though I put inside right now, or the mold just presents right now?

I’m Not sure to be honest. But if it’s mouldy it smells off I wouldn’t feed it to the piggies.

If there is moisture in the bags open them up to let it escape and take the hay out and put it in an old pillowcase and give it a good sniff. If it still smells fresh after 24 hours it should be OK to give to your piggies. It should smell a bit like honey or something sweet.

They are two new bags of hay though. Today I place it outside under sun for about 1 hour.

What is the smell of mold or mildew?

Hay shouldn't smell musty at all it should smell sweet as I already explained in my previous post.
