We have just bought a baby male (5 weeks) for a friend for Herbie (1 1/2 yrs) also male. Introduced them today, but herbie harassing baby -we've separated them for the night into separate sectiond of the hutch. Think we'll put them both in the run tomorrow with some areas where herbie cant get as he's so much bigger. If any one can help with the following we'll all be grateful -
how long will it take before theres calm and friendship in the hutch?
will the baby be ok at night - he's outdoors in a shoe box full of hay within the main hutch, covered with weatherprof mesh?

any helpful suggestions please

thanks
Alex :)

Hi my babies are in a shed and unless the 5 week old was ouside already i wouldnt put him straight outside in my opinion but about introducing them well i have quite a few bonded boars and like you i only bonded 2 lots the other day ::)

There will be some rumbling, humping and chasing but this is perfectly normal :D

I first introduced them by separating a run for the 2 lads aged same as yours roughly so they could just sniff each other then after a few minutes or so lifted the divider up and just watched them

After a while ;D They were just like they had met months ago - I put them in a freshly clean cage and they just popcorned and simply just bonded. All of my boars are now bonded to babies or adults.
