Here I am again trying to persuade my mum :/
Well today I went to PetsAtHome to buy some supplies, but I saw this adorable hamster in the adoption part. (Recently I've become in love with dwarf hammies.) His name was ernie and I really want to take him home! (Ever since my hamster died last year I've always wanted another!)
How can I persuade her? Or if not ernie than another dwarf hamster?
Thanks, and sorry Its not about guinea pigs.
P.s my mum wasn't with me today so she didn't see him.
Please help.

This is a guinea pig forum not hamster and there is no way anybody on here could help you get your mother to buy you a hamster. My advice is to wait until you are old enough to work to buy one yourself so you would not have to rely on your mother to feed it and also if it was ill and needed to see a vet.

Hello!

Hamsters are lovely, so I can understand why you want one. However, if you already have guinea pigs (I think from some of your other posts it sounds like you do), I can see why your mum isn't keen on more animals. I'm not sure how old you are, but if it is your mum who has to pay for their upkeep then it is unfortunately her decision - I'm sure you know how expensive it can be once you have factored in feed, bedding and vet trips!

Now, as piggyfan said, this is a guinea pig forum and not a hamster forum - but I'm sure a hamster forum exists, so it may be worth adding your post there too? I'm not sure if hamster rescues exist, but if you do manage to persuade your mum, please research into getting a hamster from a rescue if possible and not from a pet shop.

I wish you luck either way!

I have a Roborovski Dwarf called Button, she's now 2! Love her to bits, although she's so fast i can barely hold her:(

I would research more into them if you are considering getting one. They are cheap to look after, but there cages and toys aren't cheap at all.

But it is up to your mum at the end of the day, as she has to fund the costs:^-rolleyes

I used to have Chinese Striped hamsters, they were a really lovely breed, very gentle and good to handle. I had a Syrian following that and they've put me off hamsters for life!

Getting another pet is always expensive, I think you need to have a serious conversation with your Mum about the practicalities of you having another pet. It can't always be the 'see and want' mentality because if you haven't got the space, time, money etc to look after the animal then it's not really fair to take it in. You have to decide what you can handle and if your Mum is going to be funding the care of the animal really it's her choice to say yes or no. When you are making your own money and supporting yourself then that'd your decision. Like for me I have 13 piggies at the moment and that is 100% enough, I see other guinea pigs posted here that I think are super cute and that I'd love to adopt but I've got to be realistic and say no because it is what is best for my other animals because I will still have the same time to devote to them all. My Mum is good because if I go away she looks after the piggies and she sometimes comes and helps me clean them all but I'm spending out a lot to give them all the best!
