That looks like impaction which is where the muscles have weakened and the boar cant expel the soft pellets they usually eat. It does happen in some boars who haven't been neutered. You are able to clear it away at home - I think there is a thread on here detailing how to deal with impaction- but if in doubt a vet would certainly clear it out for you. I'll tag @Wiebke who can give a better answer. :)

Impaction can happen with older pigs but as there is blood involved I would recommend you go to the vet straight away @Deb mellott . It could possibly be a medical emergency.

As you have just got him could you ask the rescue/previous owner about his condition?

It looks like impaction. When boars get old their back muscles can weaken and they can struggle to the redigested poos (caecotrophs) out. These are the ones they eat for the second round of breaking down fibre. Some piggies eat their some of their impaction poos, others don't. But in order to compensate, you have to feed a high fibre diet and feed the same at the same time every day. That can minimise impaction for a goodly while. It is not curable and you need to do the service and regular checks every day.

You can find lots of information (with good care videos and diet tips etc.) via this link here: Impaction Recovery - How To Help Your Guinea Pig.

If you have worries, please see your vet.

Thank you so much for the replies, I really appreciated the help and information , we were able to clear the block but there is a raspberry sized mass( even looks like one ) on his bottom. He is 5 years old and not sure If this should be removed or not, I did contact previous owner who claims guinea had no bathroom problems , and did not respond on the question re ,raspberry mass .

Awwww I'm sorry about finding the mass but I'm sure that it must feel much better without all that poop stuck. I would see a vet to ask about the mass and next steps. It sounds like he is lucky to have found himself with you :) and we are more then happy to try and answer your questions

I am very sorry about finding the mass. Sadly your experience is not unique. It is amazing how economic with the truth people can be when they want to get rid of a pet and wiggle out of any responsibility or vet cost. :(

At least the poor boy is in responsible hands now!

But it definitely needs to be seen by a good vet! You can only make any decisions based on his findings and his abilities. Could you please tell us which country, state or UK county you are in so we may be able to give you recommendations?

I've just had three major operations on 5-6 year old piggies of mine performed; two of them were on the tricky side with an ovarian cyst having stuck to the bowel and a several inch long incisor needing removing in another sow. They are all three making a good recovery (better than my purse). Vet care has come a long way if you are lucky enough to be able to get access to a good small furries operating vet.

But it all depends on your vet's findings. If the prognosis is not good, then I am sure that you will make any decision with your boy's welfare and quality of life upmost in mind.
