image.webp 'Sprite' is trying to get better from a gut problem at the moment. He's on Emeprid and Zantac. He's got gut movements but he keeps bloating up then not pooping much and then he'll have a day of loads of pooping. Starting off small then going to normal size by the end of the day he weighs less. He's not eating Much now I'm syringing pellets and Critical Care. He's now on Bio lapis and a wormer to see if he has parasites. I don't know what else to do can anyone help please I feel like he's slipping away from me. I need to know what the best thing is to give him to retain weight.

Is he still eating fresh veg? Perhaps you may want to withdraw that to help settle the guts. When you re-introduce it, you will have to so very slowly in small quantities, one by one so you can find out which veg he particularly reactive to.

You can give extra vitamin C via syringe, but as you are using a mix of nuggets and recovery food, there is already some in there.
I would also recommend to try a course of fibreplex. It can help with persistent gut problems.

Might be worth removing grain from his diet? Sounds random I know, but our to a was in the same situation. Gut stimulants, infacol, buscopan, fibreplex, massage pads... Nothing helped her! Then some on here recommended using grain free food and she's never bloated since!

He's not eating veg much now just a bit of grass. I'm at the stage where I need to get anything into him because he's hardly eating anything just his syringe food.

I would also recommend to try grain-free pellets. There is now thankfully quite a range available. In addition, fibreplex has often done the job with persistent issues.

I think that the wormer has made him not want to eat now but we had to try it to rule out parasites and worms. He's on it till Tuesday.

Thankyou to everyone who gave advice and shared their experiences and ideas. I will keep you up to date.
