I had two guinea pigs up until recently when one past away. I'm just looking for some advice and tips to help my guinea pig who will be living on her own now. Can anyone help me thanks. Lucy

I am so sorry for the loss of your guinea pig :(
Your lone piggie will be missing her too.

With regards to your question do you mean you don't want to get her another friend and you want tips on how to make her happy?

Or are you wanting advice about finding her a new friend?

:)

No I won't be getting another guinea pig if I can help it. Just wondered if there's anything I can do to make her happy and comfortable by herself.

Well, she needs you to delivery her veggie bar, cuddles and lots of lovely fresh hay but you cant give her companionship that other piggies give.

Sows are designed to live with other Guinea Pigs and it can turn out to be a lonely life for a lone piggie. :( Even if you are home a lot it's no substitute.

Sorry I'm not helping you much am I, but I am genuinly thinking of your lone Sow that has always had company of her own kind and until recently she has lost her friend. And because of this I am giving you the advice above and thinking of her needs.

If you cant offer a rescue pig a new home and a friend for her, maybe have a think about giving her up so someone else can give her a home with a neutered boar or another lonely sow/sows?

I agree absolutely with Salt n Peppers mum, I don't think there is any substitute for a guinea pig having a companion of their own kind. They are such socialable animals and, as much as we love them and give them all the attention we possibly can, there is still a communication barrier there.

Ok thank you. Can you give some advice about introducing a guinea pig to her. She's a very shy laid back sow and was not the dominant one when she was with her partner.

Best bet is to go piggie dating, then she can pick her very own friend be it a sow or neutered boar, you will be helping a very needy piggie from a rescue.
Not only will you be rescuing one, it will leave space for another piggie to go in to rescue that may be in desperate need of TLC from the rescue.

You could look in http://www.guineapigrehome.org.uk/ and look up the piggies in your area. Or if you state where abouts you are we can recommend some local to you :)
