hello ive just got a rescued guinea pig and I'm worried about his weight he is skinny just wondering if you knew any good food for guinea pigs to put on weight ?

Could you weigh your piggy? There can be such a variance in weights. Is he healthy in other ways, but just skinny? I'm sure people can offer advice for you. x

corn on the cob is meant to be a really good food for helping a piggy gain weight :)

cant weigh him at the mo see i got him off a friend see she wasnt interested in him so I'm worried his nails are really long so I'm going to cut them later so i think i will check his teeth that could be a reason :(

A good diet with plenty of hay, pellets and a choice of several veg and fruit twice daily will do the trick. If he is underweight, he'll start putting up weight until he has reached a level that is right for his body. No special "fattening" needed!

Are you going to pop him to the vets for a check, to make sure he's just undernourished and underweight, and not ill?

the rescue i adopt from swears by rolled oats to gain weight quickly with piggies,my Blad lost a ton of weight from bar chewing to much and one day on rolled oats and he has got a little coverage again x

Rolled oats, made up with warm goats milk definitely did the trick with my little Nina. xx

thanks been to the vet and yes he is a bit underweight but they have to take in account of his age aswell but ive got him some rolled oats and corn so he is happyly munching :)
