got 2 female guinea pigs and one given me to little ones she was pregant when i had her and i didnt know untill the 1st feb when we have two extras that looked like her in the cage, well today i phoned around some vets and they was after £39 for the male to be done that is one of the babies i belive one is male and one is female. but i have to wait till they 5months to have the male done and i belive they can breed at 3 weeks old so i can separate but he will be on his own untill then, what do * think is the best idea?
wait till 5months and get him done and he will be in a cage on his own for 4 months and 3 weeks i think or find someone who has a little male and find my little piggie a home?

I'm confused i dont want to put him out there *** there is loads to be rehomed any ideas please?

Where abouts are you? Males need to come away after 3 weeks as they can mate with their mother / sisters - were the vets able to sex the babies for you?

The baby boar could be paired with an older boar or another baby. If you do not want to keep him then it's best to contact your local rescue to see if they can rehome him, as they'll ensure the new home is homechecked etc. and might be able to bond him with another male.

Depends if you have the room to house him for 5 months then wait 5-6 weeks after his operation before adding him to your sows.

but the cage wont be okay for 4-5 months

the thing is I'm living with my fiance and his mam and sister i got my chinchillas, liazrd, snakes and spiders in the room atm I'm cutting back but we should be moving soon so I'm hoping i get a garden.

Hiya - I am sorry about your situation; sadly, it's not uncommon.

Here is a list with rescues for you to find one near you. This forum is directly linked with this website. http://www.guineapigrehome.org.uk/gp/centres.asp

If you state your area in your personal data, rescues that are active on here and within reasonable reach of you, might get in touch of you.

Rest assured that in any case, your baby boy will be looked after well and will be paired with another boar, either to go and live with one who has lost his friend or be rehomed with one he has been paired with at the rescue. All rescues do homechecks and will only rehome to places that pass.

okay thanks :(

would it be fair to put him up and see if someone has a female they wanted to be homed and i take on a female and find my male a home?
i feel bad *** i dont like see so many piggies in recuse i know they looked after but it still sad that they dont have perm home.

also would 3 weeks be the time i seprate and i got to wait till he is about 6-8 weeks to house him?

Hiya!

There is a REALLY good rescue right by Swansea is you want to get him rehomed - or you could offer him yourself but be prepared to home check and make sure he's going to a good home! If you do want to rehome him don't offer him free. Personally I would say rescue is bestfor rehoming. They REALLY look after their animals.

If you want to keep him but are worried about him being on his own what I would do is put the three girls back in the big cage together and put him in the smaller cage and put them side by side so they can see and sniff each other through the bars.

Also in Morganstown - by Radyr - there is a vet who just did a neutering on a boy for me who was 4 months not 5 months. Plus he really knows what he's doing. So you'd have to come down the a470 a bit but it's an excellent vet.

thanks, i just relised my best friend got pigs and she got a male on his own he is about 1 half yes old but will that be okay and how old can my baby go with him if she do take him on?

Does her boy live inside?

If so 6 - 8 weeks would be okay
