After losing Ben this week, Dave was looking very down in the dumps. He was being cared for by my Dad until we got back from holiday and I'd said to him that if Dave was looking sad then maybe he should get a new friend before I got home. My Dad went out yesterday and got a tiny piggy for Dave to 'Daddy'. He described him to me over the phone but he was even cuter than I'd expected him to be! And Dave seems to be over the moon with him too!

I thought I'd like to keep the 'Ben' connection when Dave got a new friend, so we'd thought about 'Reuben'. However, my Dad said he'd called him Joseph (as in technicolour coat!) so we've reached a compromise and settled with 'Joben'...

With 'Daddy' Dave, the protector!

Oh, Joben is just gorgeous x). It can be so hard at times getting them a friend so quick but we do have to put there needs before our own. Piggies need companions, I'm glad you got Joben for Dave so he isn't lonely.

Awww Emma Joben is gorgeous x) and Dave will be a perfect Dad to him - Dave is gorgeous too

We have made that decision too to get a "different" friend for my sisters bereaved piggy Starskey who lost his cagemate Hutch yesterday 8...

We have arranged to go down to Hels with Starskey to see if we can get him to father one of the baby boars she has at the moment - watch this space !!

RIP Ben - keep looking down on Dave and have fun meeting Garry :)
RIP Hutch - keep your little ginger face on Starskey and we will look after him

x

Sorry to hear about Hutch...I'm sure he'll be keeping an eye on which new friend you choose, so choose carefully!

Everything seems good with Dave and Joben. And not only has Joben helped to cheer Dave up, but he's helped us with the grieving process too.

My dad did well with his choice - I just fell in love with Joben's markings the moment I saw him!:)

It is clear you Dad has excellent taste in piggies as Joben is gorgeous! Lovely to see Dave so happy too x

Yes the choice will be completely Starskey's though he is such a comatosed piggy he is soooo laid back he is almost horizontal mallethead

Your dad did indeed do well with his choice Joben is beautiful I'm sure him and Dave will be very happy together. I think it will help having another piggy as although they will never replace the one that has gone they are such characters that they can help at this difficult time :)

AWWW - they make a lovely pair! Joben is a stunner indeed!

I am sure that Dave is happy to have company again. He won't miss Ben any less, but at least, he will be to busy to grieve.

awww I love that last pic. They look great together, good ole dad :))

Oh, what a handsome piggy! Sorry to hear about Ben. I have been in a similar situation and do agree that getting a friend sooner rather than later certainly helps both the pigs and you :)

He does seem rather happy! He has chilled out to his old ways now, lying outside by the hayrack. My Dad said yesterday that he came downstairs and checked on them - Dave was lying flat out in the pigloo and Joben was laying on Dave's back! Seem to be gelling very nicely!
