Hi, I have just been given 2 female piggies for my birthday, got them Thursday evening straight from mum and 2 other sisters/brothers. They are 5 weeks old. I've notice that one keeps having a pop at the other. No blood drawn. Should I be worried? She keeps nipping at the other. I baught 2 hide aways and she even goes in to have a go at the other then runs back out. I baught 2 water bottles so they can both drink separately. I'm going to sort a bigger cage as I was surprised with them I've had to use what I have. They are still small so it's not to bad at the minute. If I get them out they are fine together intact if I move 1 away from the other they start wheeking like they dont like being apart. The one that is being picked on has retaliated once. So I'm more worried it's going to turn into a fight. What do I do? I've had about 8 or 9 girls in a huge run and never seen this before. Is she just trying to be the top pig?

I think one is trying to tell the other one that she is boss. There is always a dominant and submissive piggie, just keep an eye on them. I’d try and given them as bigger space as you can cage wise, this often helps keep things calm and gives the under piggie a chance to escape any aggression too

Thankyou, I am planning on a bigger cage. I was surprised with them and they are still very small. I had my other girls in a huge run. So that's what I'm planning for these 2. Plenty of room to play and hide. I really hope they will be able to stay together. It would be such a shame to split them up. I've never had this before, all my girls got on really well. I only had to split 1 pair of brothers up, they had been through a lot. I had about 35 at one point. Lost my last one 5 years ago.

Fingers crossed, I suppose you could always split the cage if really necessary, hopefully it won’t come to that, and they’ll Settle down

Hopefully the spat is just them settling into a new environment and they will calm down .
Welcome to the forum and please can we see pictures

They seem to have settled down now. They have been messed about with a bit because I wasnt sure of their sex. Took them to a vets to make sure I was right. So now I'm letting them have peace and quiet and rest.

Aw, you have a gorgeous foursome, more pigtures please once they are all settled in x
