My guineapig has Ascites, and with a lot of difficulty my mom and i found a good vet(as in my country its rare that people tend to guineapigs) and my vet said to feed her ORS sollution if she doesn’t it...i wanted to ask if ors sollution is goof for my piggy?

Firstly welcome.
ORS is for rehydration and can be given due to an illness or sometimes over heating in a pig. To be honest I had to look up the illness and it sounds like you have a very ill piggy.

To answer your question, yes you can give your piggy ORS.
Good luck.

The shop owner, from where we got the piggies, says that we should try homeopathy and feed it dry turmeric and all will be well. Again,my pig has Ascites and i really don’t know wether the turmeric is good for the pigs or not plus what side effects or stuff will homeopathy work

I don't know what ascites is. I would never opt for home remedies and the forum does not promote home treatments. Instead you need the diagnosis and correct treatment as prescribed by a qualified and knowledgeable vet

Well ascites is a liquid disintegration problem in guineapigs...firstly,i just asked what’s best for my pig. Second,we did take her to a vet yesterday but today she stopped eating so the shop owner said this. Third,if my coubtry had good vets for exotic animals I would’ve gone right away. Fourth, thanks

Hi there! Could you give us more information on your pig's condition? Is it still eating? Is it lethargic, etc.?

I've googled "ascites" and it's described as "the accumulation of [...] fluid within the abodmen". I'm not an expert by any means, so won't attempt to give any kind of advice myself. However, if you could describe the affliction instead, then hopefully more experienced members can help. :)

Please add your location to your profile as it will help all members to identify that you are not a UK poster.
I note that you saw a vet. What advice did the vet give you? Can you tell us why your piggy has fluid in the abdomen? Is is heart trouble, bloat, or something else? Was it diagnosed by X-ray? If you tell us more we may have more ideas.

I’m afraid that as we are a forum based in the UK We will have little or no experience of treatments used elsewhere in the world. Guinea pigs are treated as “exotics”here and traditional medicine is developing regularly. I don’t know of anyone who’s used homeopathy on piggies. But that’s not to say that it won’t work. However we are a forum who cannot replace vet advice. We can only offer our support and share ideas.

Threads merged into one thread in H and I - apologies to viewers for out of sequence posts but easier to assist OP if all info is in one place.

Hi and welcome!
I have never come across the diagnosis of an overly acidic stomach in guinea pigs in the tens of thousands of piggies that have passed through this forum section (nor in other forums) and would definitely very strongly advise against using human homeophathic or home treatment medications in guinea pigs. Many human medications have turned out to have detrimental effects on rodents with a different body chemistry and have done more harm than good. :(
If your guinea pig is ill, please see a preferally piggy savvy vet!

If your guinea pig has stopped eating, you need to step in with syringe feeding and water asap in order to avoid the gut from slowing and then closing down and to buy your piggy the time necessary to see a decent vet and to allow any medication to kick in.
There is usually a pretty serious reason for loss of appetite that should be investigated by a vet familiar with guinea pigs, which the vet you have seen does sound like. Most often there is either a pain issue somewhere in the body (including bloat, gut stasis or some other source of pain in the body) or a mechanical obstruction (overgrown back teeth) in the digestive system.

Thanks Vicki, I didn't see the other post so wasn't aware that a vet had been consulted

@Garima goel this is the reason that we request that only one thread is created relating to the same piggy. By creating 2 threads in different places it can cause confusion if staff and regular contributors have not seen the other thread. Threads are now medged but posts and responses are slightly out of sequence. However, it’s still easier for us to follow.

Frankly there is no reason for such a snippy response especially to a Moderator. You came to the forum to ask for advice, you received it in a pleasant tone, is it anyones fault they did not realise you had posted more than once in different threads about the same problem?...No.
If you don't like what you read then your welcome to go somewhere else - I don't want to read such tone from someone who pops up asks for advice and gets snippy.

Thankyou so much,and tye

I was bot being rude,if it felt like that then I'm sorry. And please don’t just assume someone is being ride just because they sound like that. Many people sound “snippy” and rude when under stress, same is the case with me.

I really wish i could see a piggy savvy vet but in my country there are lil to none...and i stopped giving her human meds since the shopkeeper/breeder who we got lilo from told us against it and he suggested giving her hints of dry turmeric(very lil amount) and it will help her stomach clear out

Thankyou to all the forum members and everyone who suggested me ways to help lilo but I'm grieved to inform that she is at her last stage....soon to perish...

Lilo took her last breath at 8:53pm (according to the indian time line and my timeline) she will be missed...
