Is it possible for guinea pigs to be homosexual? Marble is always trying to lick Peronel's private area as well as hump her when she is on heat. I know it can mean dominance but what about the licking? She tries to groom her too. At first she really was physical and even humped poor Peronels head no matter how much she weed on her. Has anybody else had this?

Whattt? No, my piggies have not done that. It is possible. But I really dont know.

I wouldn't worry to much about it. Being in heat affects dogs the same way, male or females will try and get at them and atually when my female shih-tzu was in heat she was the one humping our male (he was fixed so couldn't do much) but she was the one humping him instead of the other way around but I wouldn't worry about it to much. If the boys do it to each other then I'm sure it's not a big deal if the girls do it to each other as well.

Wouldn't worry too much. My boys appear to be very much in love/lust and the little one is a right tart inviting it most of the time.

As long as the one getting humped isn't getting too stressed out about it then leave them too it. Obviously if she is getting pretty hacked off sometimes you might need to give them time out from each other. Hormones are funny things.

One of my horses is a bit lesbian ;) She never seems interested in geldings and when she is season she likes to spray mares and 'wink' at them ;)

Bck on topic - I wouldn't worry :) As long as the humping does overally stress her constantly

It sounds like she is quite hormonal. Even with a macho boar around, I get girl-to-girl humping, especially when several girls are coming into season together!

I was talking to someone about this the other day, she had a very very hormonal sow, so bad that the other sows actually attacked her when she tried to mount them. She then put the hormonal sow in with a boar, but the boar attacked her as well, because she was trying to mount him. In the end she was recommended to either spay her or have her live alone for the rest of her life.

sorry, doesn't really help, but it is possible to have very randy sows. If she's getting on with everyone I would leave her to it for now, but it might be worth looking into getting a neutered boar if you don't already have one, for her to live with. He might be able to deal with her randiness.

My boys do the same. I don't think they are gay, I think they are just acting on natural urges. If you were to put a female in with them (don't! lol) then I'm sure they would redirect their urges!
They just don't know any different really imo

Oh thank you so much everybody. I just was shocked at such tarty behaviour!

Hey, I'm an old tart and I don't behave like that, never did. . . . oh, we're talking about guinea pigs, aren't we. As I have only the one, all I can offer is an ongoing experience with a female dog; all of my other animals are spayed or neutered. This particular female, if she thinks she can get away with it, will hump my other female dog. It doesn't look like sex or gratification to me, it appears to be dominance.

Interesting. With Marble she will actually lick the private area though....

When my Dobby is in season she tries to hump Willow. Also my twin sows seem to go in season at the same time! There's constant humping and rumblestrutting then!

Years ago when we were at school my friend had a rabbit and over time we all began to think he might be gay as he always went wild (in a sexual way!) for other male rabbits and was never interested in girl bunnies!

Wow maybe he was!

I have two male Guinea pigs that if you saw them with it each other you would see that they are very much attracted to each other and in love. Never had two same sex Guinea pigs that love and want each other as much as these two. They are also full brothers LOL
