It is 2 years today and tomorrow that our 2 darling girls tragically went to rainbow bridge. I just wanted to write a memorial thread for them to let them know i still miss them dearly and not a day go's by where i dont think of them. They were such beautiful girlies, i will never forgive myself for what happened to them, they were far too young, left behind Lilly and Minnie who still miss them too, Minnie has taken over Honey's role as the big boss, even though she is the tiniest adult guinea pig ever :))

Here are a few pic's sadly we didn't take many of them.

You never stop missing them, they were beautiful piggies x). Please don't blame yourself, unfotunately life can be cruel at times and some things aren't meant to be. Your a wonderful Piggie Mum, always remember that.

Sleep well, Honey & Millie

Thanks everyone, they were very loved and very sadly missed as said.

We tragically lost them to heat stroke, we nearly lost all 4, but in the end only 2, Litterally fine and happy having breakfast 1 minute, then a n hour later after quickly popping out, we got back and it was like a horror scene, we dropped our bags, grabbed the cage and took them straight to the vets, sadly Honey died on the way, I cradled Millie all the way there trying to get some water into her but she was not concious, the vet managed to bring her round, pumped her with steriods and fluids, and kept her in an oxygen tank but she had severe brain damage, she couldn't walk and wouldn't eat and her system had packed up, so the fluids given by the vet did not do their job, and 24 hours later she started to go very down hill, despite my attempts to get food and water into her, we rushed her straight back to the vets, tried more oxygen and steriods, but there was no improvement so we had to make the heart wrenching decision to have her PTS :( Then her and Honey (mother and daughter) were cremated together and we have their little wooden casket on the wooden beam in our bedroom.

This really should be a lesson to all regarding the heat, and indeed cold weather! As i said it was all within the space of an hour. Needless to say, since they have been in an indoor cage where they are at no risk of either weather extreme's.

I have never mentioned this on the forum before as i have been so ashamed and feel like i do not deserve my animals, but if sharing my tragic story will help others and teach them of the dangers, then hopefully something good could come out of it.

xx

You have nothing to be ashamed of. You had no idea this would happen and did all you could to rescue them. It is just an awful tragic accident. You are very brave to share your story on here.

Thanks Piggyfan xx

I have wanted to for a long time, but never had the guts, but its on here now, i just hope people dont think any less of me.

xx

I think more of you for being brave. You are the most loving piggy mum ever so if anybody thinks any different they are pathetic losers and are not worth bothering with.

Thanks Piggyfan xx

I have wanted to for a long time, but never had the guts, but its on here now, i just hope people dont think any less of me.

xx

Hugs x

No one would ever do that, these things happen and it wasn't your fault - just a tragic accident and something no one could have predicted. x x x
