After losing Bailey, the herd just hasn't been right. I've been thinking about getting another piggie for a long time and today I've been kicked into action. There is a beautiful piggie at a local pet shop and I drove there today and I was seconds away from buying her...yes, I was ashamed of myself, as I don't want to support pet shops. I thought about it for a bit, and then remembered a local Animal rehoming charity mentioned a few months ago about taking in 21 guineas, so I went on their site, and they still have lots of piggies in need of a home.
I can't phone until 11 and I'm sat here impatiently waiting so that I can book an appointment to go and view a prospective new herd member! Trouble is, with there being so many, I just know I'm going to find it hard to walk away with just one....!

I just phoned them and the lady said there are many more than just what is shown on their website as they took in 21 piggies who had been left to free roam and so many are/were pregnant. I'm off at 1pm to go and look!
I'm not going to be able to come home with just 1...

Here she is! I'm not sure what to call her yet, I was thinking Maple but I'm not sure.
She is 6 weeks old and came from a home where pigs were allowed to run free totally unsupervised - 21 pigs in total, 12 of which were females, who were all pregnant. She is one of the babies :)
It took all my willpower to not take her sister home too!

Holy Moly she is gorgeous! I have a real soft spot for ginger piggies! hence i have one ha ha! I want her!

Hehe I've always wanted a ginger piggy, Bailey wasn argente/ginger roan kind of colour but this little girl is properly bright ginger! I'm in love!

I'm not surprised, she is a real stunner, we'll be needing loads of pics when she is settled. Well done for only coming home with one, or not......? though i can see why she stole your heart, i'm not saying the others were ugly....oh you know what i mean lol.

x) she's gorgeous drool
Aw, shame you didn't have her sister too :x When I finally found my Himi girls, there were three rolleyes Hum, didn't want to have just one because she would be scared, couldn't have two because didn't want to leave one on her own sooo...I had the three :(|)

I wish I could have come home with more but the hutch is only really big enough for 6! :(

Ohhh three himi's? You lucky lucky person! A himi is the last one my "list of types of pigs I'd love to have", haha! I've got my ginger pig, my tri coloured abby and my silver agouti rex, just a himi to go!

yes they are, i used to have one, my beloved salt that passed :0

anyway, i love your new baby shes gorgeous, i love maple too or mabel! x)

She is lovely, hope all the others will be as lucky as her, you have got very good taste in Guinea pigs :))

I've just put them all in the massive run to meet each other and things seem to be going well! She's very talkative. Buddy has had a little rumble and everyone else has had a sniff. Breeze is being a bit of a bully and snapping at her whenever she gets too close, but nothing too violent.

awww what a cutie! you must be chuffed!
Agouti silver rex is on my wish list! and himis too :))

Awww I love her! I've always wanted a ginger piggie and a himi too :))
I really like the name autumn for her that Karina suggested on facebook :) How on earth did you manage to not take her sister too :(|)

Awww shes a beaty x)
I'm sure she is very happy to have a loving home :) good on ye for remembering rescues -c

I have been considering getting McMac a new friend after Momo's passing but I haven't been sure if I was ready or how McMac would react. After seeing this lovely girl I have decided to make a certain phone call soon :<> its very exciting. I hope I can find the right one (or two even :p) to bring home to McMac.

Keep us updated on this cute ginger :) oo and I agree with Branston&Pickles with the name Autumn :3
