Hopping while walking?

So one of my guinea pigs he is 3 yrs old was fine this morning but a few minutes ago he is hopping with his back legs when he is walking but he is still eating ... I do not think it is paralysis because I have seen that guinea pigs will drag their legs if it is the case but we will take him to the vet soon but I would like to know what are the possibilities and if it is fixable
 
My guinea pig did also hop a couple months ago, but it did stop. I would watch out for sluggish behavior and any change in normal behavior. I sadly had a bad experience where I took him to the vet with his cage mate (because of the hopping) and they both were cleared, but upon returning home my one piggie got the other one sick and my other one unfortunately spiraled down quickly and passed away. I don’t know what caused the hopping exactly, if it was the little sickness he caught or if he wasn’t getting enough Vitamin C. When I did start him on the Vitamin C cookies he got his energy back and the hopping ceased. If he has a cage mate I would bring the cage mate to get examined as well and watch them closely as I never saw my other one’s passing coming. I would also make sure that his feet aren’t irritated from urine on the fluff or whatever you use. If he does lose his appetite at all I would definitely take him to the vet straight away to get some critical care powder and a syringe to syringe feed him until he is well.

I've had pigs hop when they have hurt their legs in some minor way... definitely keep an eye on it and be aware of any illness signs, like lethargy or lack of appetite. But fingers crossed it's just a little strain from running around.
 
It could be the start of a vitamin or mineral deficiency, possibly early arthritis, a sprain or other injury. Unfortunately the only way to know would be to pop him in to see a good vet, if it's pain related it's best to get it seen to before it begins to effect the appetite. Fingers crossed it's something simple!
 
I figured it was on of the things mentioned above I just hope it is simple and it will be fixable. But what mostly scares me is that I have found all the guinea pigs with vitamin or mineral deficiency have died a month happen. I really do not want another death I already experienced on in october.
 
I took my three year old guinea to the vet with the same problem, he was also lifting one of his front legs as if it was too painful to stand on. The vet did a thorough check and said his pelvis and front elbow were sore. She never said what caused it but is now on 0.3ml Loxicom for life. I can only assume it’s arthritis

Is he getting a daily source of Vitamin C? My boy gets one Oxbow Natural Science Vitamin C “cookie.” I found the Vitamin C drops to upset his stomach.
 
Update: so the first day we got the medicine my guinea pi was unwilling too eat the biscuit but now he eats it on his own but I still have to take him out to feed him the biscuit because our other guinea loves it and I need to make sure that my guinea pigs is eating it all.
