Hi everyone me again.
My piggle’s mouth seems to be very hot. Ive noticed when he licked me and the tongue was really hot. Also, he doesn’t seem to be drinking water at all however apetite is big. Also, I’ve noticed that when I'm around or near the cage he seems to making some actions like chewing but he isnt chewing anything at that moment.
And oh god, so sorry, another thing ive noticed he seems to be licking my hands A LOT.
big thank you for whoever will answer my concerns as guinea pigs are such a fragile animals and Ive never had one so every odd thing he does makes me paranoid!

Uploading some videos, please give it a watch and if u can let me know if everything looks ok with poggle that’d be great..

Hi welcome.. he just seems a very relaxed piggy. But I am fairly new here so I am sure someone more experienced will be able to give a better answer.
Meanwhile have a read on all the guides about behaviours and what is "normal" and not. They are very helpful.

Looking at the videos, he does look relaxed. With your concern about the "chewing but not actually chewing", I believe this means that he is cleaning his teeth. I'm not sure why his mouth is hot, but maybe he is licking your hands a lot because he's looking for food.

Wow, he’s a beautiful boy and so relaxed, loving the videos. licking is quite common and a sign of affection I think, or he could just be enjoying the salty taste of your skin. He may also be telling you to give him some more food, either way he is communicating with you on his level which is so nice.
My two boys Bill and Ted “like to chew the cud” I suspect it’s bits of hay kept in the mouth to soften up and then re-chewed. Some piggies drink lots of water and some don’t. They often get plenty of water from the vegetables or grass that they eat. I’m not sure why you think his mouth is hot? They are a similar temperature to humans, make sure his cage/hutch isn’t in the sun for any length of time especially if it’s hot weather and summer if inside or outside x

Thank you for the nice words!
When he licks my skin it feels really hot..
Also he is wheeking really loud and in the high pitch.. dunno got a bad feeling such a fragile animals..

Although it doesn’t sound as if there is anything wrong if you are worried then take him to the vet for a check.
Most vets would rather reassure an anxious owner than have to deal with a sick piggy which is beyond help.

Peace of mind for you is important as well as your piggy’s health

Please be aware that the body temperature of guinea pigs is higher than ours.

Guinea pigs like to lick hands and arms that have mineral traces and salt on them. It can also be a sign of affection.
They also chew on the crud in their mouths; when you look into them, there is always gunk in the cheeks. ;)

Take a deep breath and calm down. Like us humans, a guinea pig will only drink when they are thirsty. Some piggies will never or hardly ever drink from a bottle while others will drink lots - and they are all still in the normal range.

My pippin often looks like she us eating but there is nothing in her mouth! I like to think she is telling me something lol.. your piggy looks so chilled out x

I really doubt that. I gave him some floor time however he seems to be lost and keeps shrieking. We are getting a friend for him soon as soon as i will get some cc grids. I just think hes kinda feeling sad and wants company but obvs hes too scared to be around me thats his dilemma :/

Both my pigs do the chewing crud thing. Every pig does, it sometimes causes problems when having teeth checkups at the vets, they cant see anything
Tut tut

Try not to worry too much. Guinea pigs have a higher body temperature than humans, so their little tongues will always feel hot to us. In addition, guinea pigs will often make chewing motions, either because they still have food back there between their molars (they grind down their food and can keep it in the back of their mouths for longer than you might think) or simply because they are grinding their teeth. Not all guinea pigs drink a whole lot (or may not drink while you are watching them!) And I've certainly had pigs that love to lick hands... either because they are salty or because they're giving kisses (I like the kissy explanation, personally!)
