its horrible knowing rabbits have spent their last few days in them, there should be some sort of law to protect them

NO BIDS anyway thank god it has ended but they may still relist it though :( Just think of the poor horrors :-\

:'( this made me sad... I cant understand why people eat rabbit, you wouldnt eat a piggie! they have the same loving nature and funny antics. I adore my buns and hate the idea of their kind being food! (I'm a vegetarian)

Hi, but meat is a good source of protein and the majority of people eat meat its just like anything else really I'm not a vegetarian and would never be one

awwwwwww those cages i awfull i can't bear to think about the poor bunnies that would in them! :tickedoff: :'( :tickedoff: :'( 666)

sorry but i love a sunday roast, beef and roast potatoes yummy

i love meat always have always will, i agree i couldnt eat rabbit or a piggy knowingly as i own them. Its like eating a dog when owning one in my eyes.

I wouldnt knock anyone eating rabbit as it s up to them.

its all down to personal choice... its what makes us so wonderfull, we can choose and we choose differently. I remember my mum serving up rabbit in the 70's i refused to eat it as it looked yukky.....
I used to really love roast beef dinners.... but then i got into reiki (energy healing) and through that i made a choice not to eat animals. But i totally respect other people have a different veiw O0

I eat meat but not rabbit its horrible :P I have had a pet pig before and have ate bacon whilst owning her but then we got rid of her :'(

Try telling that to pretty much most of South America... They even have a national Guinea Pig Festival.

I was watching The Daily Show with Jon Stewart and at the end there is always his "moment of zen". It was a CNN report on The Guinea Pig fesitival in Peru. It all seemed harmless as they have competition for best dress piggie (they didnt seem distressed) but they also have "tastiest guinea pig" award :'(
They sold piggies on concession stands fried, grilled or baked :o

I almost yacked my dinner up

thing with me is , may sound daft but i couldnt eat meat when its well got eyes and legs and stuff i can only eat meat in a joint, i dread it when i have to cook a chicken ::) but i do love it when its cooked :D

i just to hang about with a fella aaron who had a saying "the more you know, the more you know there is to know!"

tbh you would probably be sickened if u knew how most of your meat was rared and slaughtered... its just not pretty whatever way i think about it.... when you go to buy meat are you going to buy icelands bogof 4 chicken breast for £5 or are you going to go to your local butchers and pay upwards of £1.50 per breast...? battery farming is a cheap way to quickly raise and fatten animals for a market that is bargain obsessed... it is very sad but this has become a fact of life....

......free range all the way though!

I'm veggie but don't have a problem with people eating free range meat. What makes me really sad though is the amounts of meat people seem to eat. Protein deficiency in this country is virtually unheard of because protein is in so much food but I wish people would stop eating so much of it. People say they don't eat much - they mean that they might have a joint on a Sunday but they forget to tell you about the chicken sandwiches, beef curry takeaway, chicken nuggets etc etc they have the rest of the week. I have difficulty buying pre-packed sarnies and getting a good choice - look along the shelves and it's beef, chicken, prawn, ham etc etc and then a little puny cheese & tomato one at the end. This is proof that people will choose meat 9 times out of 10. They do have a choice but it basically boils down to the fact they don't care where the meat came from - ie factory farms.

I am a meat eater but I don't eat rabbits or lamb. I personally think they are too cute and cuddly to eat. Yeah I do eat beef and chicken and sometimes pork..can't say it don't make me feel guilty but I was raised eating meat. I have tried to be a vegetarian before but it didn't work. I don't have anything against people who eat rabbits and lambs but to me its like eating a cat or dog. But still that's just my opinion. I am however against any animal being caged like that and I really really hate hunting because I don't believe in killing no animal just for game. But again thats just my opinion.

OMG that story about South America just plain made me sick.

jillybean, if you eat the cheese from prepacked sandwiches, have you considered where it comes from? a cow has a calf every year to keep up their production of milk.... the cows that become too old to milk or dont produce enough are distroyed.... :-\

i live in the country, recently we had the outbreaks of foot and mouth disease and ive seen grown men cry because theyve had to distroy their heards.... they obviously cared for their animals.... i admit that plenty of people dont give a thought to where their meat comes from but please dont assume that because you cant find a vegeterian sandwich that the majority of people are happy to each battery rared meat!

i agree with lilsweetpiggies, i dont feel proud of the fact that i eat meat,
but i love chicken, always have, but it comes from local farms and i know they have a good life while they are alive...

maybe the vegetables have feelings too, ever watched that film where trees talk to the guy.... maybes a lettuce cries when u pull it outta the ground.... :D

I agree that the whole process involving milk and cheese production also has disturbing animal welfare implications and I have total admiration for vegans who have taken that one step further. I admit that I eat cheese and milk, but have cut down on both in recent months. My point was that if people care, they can do their bit, however small. I was getting at no-one on here and said that I didn't have a problem with free-range meat (as you eat). My assumption that the majority of people are happy to eat battery rared meat comes from the fact that as this is what the supermarkets are selling, then presumably it's where people are putting their money. Most people buy the sandwich and don't give a thought to where or how it's come from.

I also live in a rural area surrounded by farms and know how many worries the farmers have. I wish the UK supermarkets would group together for once and give a guarantee to support the UK farmers by purchasing their products and giving a fair price. That would stop all this rubbish meat from abroad coming in, where there are often no animal welfare standards, and stop the export market from the UK where animals are packed into containers for hours or days.

I have turned veggie since the last time i posted a comment on here so now i obviouly don't agree with it
lol xx

if you go to photobucket and type in guinea pig you'll find pictures of cooked guinea pigs or people eating them. had a councellor whose next door neighbour breed guinea pigs to eat. and when she was questioned on it she said well what about you eating cows, sheep and pigs whats the difference?
i don't eat rabbit nor piggy nor pork. lamb here in australia is way too expensive to buy it is $32.00 a kg which works out about 8 pounds. but like many have mentioned they love their roast or their chicken while it sickens me some were bought up to eat piggies and bunnies. :'( :'( :'( they should be free range though NOT kept in cages. here in australia because of the drought farmers get paid very little for their meat and veggies say $3.00 a kg for meat and yet the shops are selling it for $32.00 a KG. fruit and veg have gone yp nearly triple in price in the last 12 months. so while i am not a vegetarian and eating piggies and bunnies disgust me some people were bought up that way! as for the best tasting piggy other festivals have best tasting lamb or beef or pork. i am NOT agreeing with them i am only saying we have to respect others and thier beliefs.
even if it makes me sick thinking of it! :tickedoff: :tickedoff: :tickedoff: :'( :'( :'(

Yes we know that Guinea Pigs are eatten for food and some people eat dogs, cats, rabbits, rats, etc etc but in some countries they are a food source.
Guineas they orinate from South America and still kept in South American kitchens fed scraps and killed for tea. We can not do anything about peoples diets, etc so why bring it up? Yes its terrible because they are our pets but some are kept for meat. Some regions will not eat cow because it is a sacrid(sp?) animal yet here in the uk we kill thousands a day.
