How do guinea pigs live in the wild?

I've been wondering and it's difficult to find information on this, so does anyone know? I'd like to know things such as:

-How many live together?
-What type of 'homes' do they live in?
-Is there a dominant female as well as male?


That's all I can think of right now...any info greatly appreciated! Thanks!
