How do they know?

I was sat reading the paper in the kitchen before and saw Ludo sucking on his water bottle. How do animals know to do that? Harry, my hammy is the same. It is just weird how they know how to get water!

I think they can smell it.

I think it maybe instinct as they can smell the source of water and just know how to get it out.

It took Pablo a few days to figure out his water bottle, he kept trying to bite the end of the nozzle. He'd then sit there and wonder where his water was, he quickly got the hang of it though.

However, he was seven months when he came to us, so I presume he had a water bowl before! Cassie knew how to use it straight away though.
