Hi sugarbear, there is some debate over how often you should bathe your piggys and there are several posts about it on the forum.
My pigs have a variety of hair types and the longer ones tend to need bathing more frequently than the short coated ones.
My top tips:
-Water should be luke warm - not as hot as you would bathe or shower in.
-There should be something non slip at the bottom of the bowl/sink/bath to prevent the pig from panicking and trying to jump out.
-The water should not be too deep (see picture) pig needs to be able to hold thir nose out of it.
-Only bathe one pig at a time
-Use a shampoo that fits the purpose - see the gorgeous guineas website for advice on what would be best
-Have a towel to hand - I tuck one into my top (like a napkin) so that I dont get wet and can wrap the piggy as soon as she comes out of the water.
- I usually wrap two pigs up together (with towel in between) so that they are calm and still after their bath.
- Dont worry if its not easy first time
Here is lavender having a bath (there was a pair of hands just off camera just in case). She loves to sit in the water but her sister hates it.
