So I'm collecting two rescue piggies next week and in preparation for their arrival I have pulled together a spreadsheet on suitable fruit and veg and how often they can be fed.

So I plan to feed one cup of fresh veg per pig by choosing from my list and recording what they've had on a tracker I can wipe clean every month.

What do you think? How do you do it?

I used information from Ayrs Guinea Pig rescue Web page which I thought was a great source of info.

Just a note on your phone or little book would do the trick

I go by Lara's command most of the time and Finn follows Lara's command too. I give them veggies for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. I also give them some Oxbow pellets and endlessly supply of hay. If Lara complains, then I go and check on them and most of the time she is complaining about Oxbow hay. I give Oxbow hay along with their three meals a day, but becuase they eat hay all day long, they run out of it so replenish hay more often.
Mine are indoor piggies so I check on them throughout the day.

I vaguely keep track just by buying a good veg selection on saturdays then letting them eat their way through it over the week! The only thing I do take note of is how much high calcium veg, so if they've had spinach they wont get broccolli in the same week for example.

Well exactly, the whole reason I did it was to ensure they did not overload on calcium but to still have a varied diet.

Great chart! I try and give them a varied diet as possible. They go out in their run so they always get grass. Plenty of hay at least twice a day is the most important. I Forage for dandelions and groundsel. I also grow veggies, herb plants like Fennel and Rosemary, they don’t cost you anything😆

Yes got Timothy Hay ready and some dried forage too.

I wanted to come up with a solution to manage the fresh veg side of the things.

Especially as they recommended giving their portion of veg over the course of the day, rather than just in one sitting.

We'll see how it goes I guess!

It’s a great idea! I admire your organisation (not something I’m good at!). Looks like a fab way to keep track of what you’re feeding. Don’t get yourself too stressed with it though. A few weeks into owning your new piggies I’m sure you’ll settle into not keeping tabs on the chart so much.
Reading your chart though, I do feed slightly different as I feed pepper, salad leaves and cucumber daily. and then a selection of other varied veg to go with swapped around slightly each day. Sounds like you’ve researched from a good source.. I probably over feed :hmm:
Don’t forget to post photos of your Piggums when they arrive!

:)
