How long before boars are 'seedless'?

When I collected Gubbins, I was told he had to go 4 weeks after his neuter op before I could introduce him to Beryl. But I've read a couple of other posts that suggest 6 weeks. I don't want to get this badly wrong with disasterous consequences so perhaps someone could fill me on the 'correct' waiting time. This weekend is the 4 week point and I'm desparate to get them together but I'd rather wait a bit longer if it's really necessary.

I'm pretty sure you should seperate them as soon as you can because they can reproduce pretty early. Someone more knowledgable will be able to specify though :)
I just had to post because Gubbins is the best name I've ever heard for a pig x) I might have to save that and use it in future!
 
I think up to 6 weeks they can still have a golden shot so to speak but i think from what i have heard 4 weeks is pretty safe saying that i waited 5.5 weeks. I would try and wait aslong as you can.
 
i'm so sorry i totally misread your post! thought it was about their age. skim reading ftl >.<
i think i waited about six weeks with baxter :)
 
My vet strongly advises 6 weeks so I'm going to wait 6 weeks before Roger gets to greet up close and personal his lady (whoever she may be squints in a certain direction)
 
I've no experience of this but I think I'd wait for 6 weeks if I were you from reading about other people's experiences on this forum. Better to be safe than sorry! Imagine putting him through the op only for him to still become a daddy!
I hope the 'marriage' goes well when they do finally meet! x
 
You make Gubbins sound like a grape. lol! yes it is definhitely 6 weeks to be absolutely certain. After 4 weeks it is very unlikely, but it only needs one determined little blighter to get through, and it will be time to start knitting. ha. x
 
I have waited 4 and a half weeks for each of mine. That's what the vet told me and that's what it says on Guinealynx medical website too (they say 3 to 4 weeks).

I have heard of rare 'golden shots' but never from someone who has had it happen to them - always to a friend of theirs. That's not to say it didn't happen for them - not at all I just think it's a minute chance (you watch it will happen to me now!).

I was very impatient and in Morks case he was in very cramped conditions for a significant amount of time. I just couldn't wait.

If you CAN wait then I would - I am just far too impatient. But someone on here said for the sake of 2 weeks why do it at 4 when you know it will be totally safe after 6? Great point if you have patience.
 
Thank you guys for all your very helpful replies. I'll just say this "gaaahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh" - I'm the world's most impatient person and I've been telling them that tomorrow's 'D Day' all day today :)) They're never gonna believe a thing I tell them ever again!!

Slinks off to wait impatiently for another couple of weeks.........:0:0
 
If you want be 95% sure, you wait four weeks. If you want to be 100% sure, you wait six weeks.

The odd "golden shot" has been known to have been fired at five weeks.

I was the same with Nutmeg, still I waited for 6 weeks, I so wanted to put them back together, once I did they weren't even that fussed!mallethead
