Hopefully in the next few weeks we will be having the room where Edward and Mrs Simpson live (as well as our fancy mice etc ) plastered and a washable floor put down so it will be a proper 'animal room' but how long should I wait to put them back in there once it is plastered?

I would wait until the smell has died away, ventilate it well. This is based on no knowledge however..... x

A thin layer of plaster doesn't take long to dry and the smell soon goes. How many days? I'm not sure, but not many. I'll see if I can look up something more specific.
Sounds like a fab project, Nicky, you lucky thing, you! :) x

I've found this:
Drying times vary depending on the background and time of year. A small window should be left open so that moisture drawn from the walls can escape.
Plastering on to plasterboard will dry much quicker (about 2-3 days) than on to backing plaster (about 4-6 days). As a rule plaster should be left for about a week before painting or tiling.

from this site, Plastering F.A.Q - Dave Allsopp Plastering Services if that helps?

With cooler weather, and damp air, as it is now, I would allow for it being on the longer side of the scale.

I just googled how long dos plaster take to dry and there is no hard and fast answer
that is a difficult question , there are so many veriables involved,
If you google how long dos plastrr take to dry you will see what l mean

Thanks everyone :D that's great xx . It's going to be a real pain having the pets all over the house while we get it plasterd but hopefully will be worth it once it's done. I'm going for a mix of woodland vintage theme so hope it turns out OK. Thank you again for your lovely help.

If it looks nice this forum will get sick of pictures, if it looks terrible only Edward and Mrs Simpson and the other Little's ones will ever see it :lol!:

I plastered my kitchen last Wednesday. It's still not completely dry yet. I do however live in Scotland so that may affect drying time.

Scotland is as damp as liverpool , l remember sciming the celings when l moved into this
house and it was ages before l could paint it.
l wish l had of used artex now ,

Well after a bit of a delay the plastering is done and the painting is going to start next week. The house is a complete mess with animals and their stuff all over the house. How on earth did all the stuff fit into one tiny room?
