I would *eventually* like to have 9 piggies (I have a "thing" about certain numbers) and was just wondering how long bags of food and hay would last.

I know this is a very vague and general question but since you all use bags of differing weights I thought it would be easier for you to answer from your personal experience.

Thank you

I have 6 piggies.

I feed them Wagg Optimum Premium which says to feed 30g-50g per pig per day, so if we use 50g as the basis;

10kg bag = 10,000g = 200 portions
200 portions for 9 piggies would be 22.2 days worth of food.

Mine also get through 1kg bag of hay a week, so you would be looking at about 1.5kg of hay if they ate like mine.

Plus your veggies too.

I have 10 pigs and I buy 10kg bags of burgess pellets and 4kg bags of oxbow cavy cuisine. They last about 2 1/2 months - 3 months.

I also buy 50lb boxes of hay - 2 at a time and they last me about 4 - 5 months (for the 2)

I would work on the rough basis that a 2kg bag would last a month for 1 pig or there abouts,

With regards to hay 4kg lasts me anything from 2-4 weeks for 4 pigs depending on what mood they are in! (sometimes they just empty hay racks over the floor constantly and i refill 4/5 times in a day some days :))

for 10 piggys i go through 25kg sack of food in around a month to 6 weeks

after reading other replies i now have a feeling i either have a big rat problem or I'm over feeding.....:{
