I have 6 females eldest being 6 months, they live in pairs,i was wondering if during the day they could go into the pens together? Would this be a bad idea? :-\

Can you try them next to one another to see how they go? Mayb put the cages/hutches where they can all see on another? Girls are easier to bond than boys but the thing is if they do have a falling out and it can happen you may end up having to seperate. :)

hi i have nine girl piggies my oldest being 4 yrs youngest one is 6 months mine live in pairs and one on her own 7 of them go out quite happily in a run on the grass but my oldest two have to go in a seperate run or the whole lot end up chassing each other weeking and generaly complaing so it is trial and error really there will probably be a bit of sniffing and teeth chattering when you first introduce them but it is lovely to see a herd of guineas in the run together

Don't see why not, they do well in big colonies. Thistle Cavies has a large group of female permanent residents in a huge pen and there are more than 6 of them. As long as they have plenty room there shouldn't be a problem.

hi, I have 5 females who live together all the time. Millie is now 10 months and the others are all between 14 and 17 weeks. They all get on really and I find the choose what "best friend" the want to cuddle up to on a daily basis. when its play time they go in with my boars and when it comes to splitting them up again they are never happy about it. x

I have 16 all together they live out through the summer from april to september the run is covered when its wet, they have approx 14 foot square to run around in plus a shed with a heater I must be 98) but i love my animals and hate the thought of them being cooped up. I have naver had any trouble with fights or aggression and they all seem to know their place I introduced 2 new piggies to the herd 3 wheeks ago one was approx a year the other 5 wheeks (mother and daughter). No trouble at all they were just accepted. If mine are anything to go by you shouldn't have a problem

I've got five girls living together, they used to live in a trio and double. Now with the bigger hutch they are all together and I have no problems.

I guess it depends on how big your run is if you can have them all together - if it's big enough there is enough room to get out of the way if needed.

i have 3 females my last was born 2 weeks ago which was a surprise so i hv 2 big ones and a little one.
they don't fight but except over who gets the food lol ;D ;D ;D ;D O0

i have Merlin and his Welsh Ladies 12 in total made up of groups put together and they live happily together each group head is still in charge but all (including Merlin) answerable to Guineviere! athey lie in a 5ft by 71/2ft run all ok

I currently have a pen of 5 living togther without any bickering!
A few years ago when I had over 40 pigs, all the sows used to go on the grass together, I think I have about 30 sows and 15 boars, the boars would go in runs on another part of the garden and seprate if needed.
Here are some sows enjoying the grass...

BTW I used to stay with them and never left them unsupervised incase one escaped or a predator came in the garden.

I have 11 sows all together and 1 neutered boar! They get on very well together, and love being in a big group. I actually find there are less chatterings/grumblings/arguments in a big group

I find that with mine. My boys would love to live with my girls all the time but i'd need to extend my c&c but not got the space at the moment. x

I agree they all enjoy the 'company' and feeding time is fun! how can they smell carrots from 90 feet away? ;D ;D ;D

God knows Ron, but if I step outside they have a 6th sense whether I have food with me or not ::)

GPQ I have to say that pic is awesome! Any more you want to share? Your piggies look totally happy :smitten: :smitten: :smitten:

Only that couple I am afraid. When Nathan and I moved out of his parents house they had that area of grass turned into a patio for the french doors to come out on.
They used to all run under the bush when it was home time, little tykes!
