My 2 girls are a year old now and I was just wondering how many pellets I should give them each day. I usually give them a handful each morning, but this will last them all day, is this too much for them or is it ok? How much do they need?
I was also wondering when you should stop feeding unlimited pellets to youngsters. Archie is 10 weeks old now, does he still need unlimited pellets?

Thanks :)

I give enough pellets for the day, about 50g each in the morning and they finish just about all of them by the next morning. For youngsters I give unlimited until around 6 months and the bring it down to adult portions - they mature at 12-14 months but slow up from aroung 6-8 months. Each pig is different though and if they don't get through their daily allowance or are piling on the weight you can reduce them - or make sure you're not feeding too many fattening treats - sweetcorn is a fav.

I normally just follow the manufacture's instruction. something like 150g a day for each piggie.

150g/day seems a awful lot to me.

We've been feeding 50g/day since we've had them and Caramel is now a little overweight for his age (6 months, 1kg).

I think pellets are the least essential part of their diet any way. It's more important for them to get plenty of hay, obviously, and vitamins from their veggies and greens. If they're getting that, all the pellets are doing is filling them up.
