I bought Spike for £19.50 at p@h. At the time I didn't think anything of it but I have to say after reading this forum I begrudge paying a shop for guinea pigs. I rescued My other pig Buffy and I gave about £20 to the small rescue I got her from. They didn't want anything as they had actually stopped rescuing but I thought they had fed and looked after her for 6 months so I thought I should give them something.
I agree with Zig Zag I wanted Spike and would have paid whatever they asked!
i bought my first three piggies last year from P@H they were 2 for £35 and the other £19, so £54, actually alot of money.
I have lost one of my original 3.
Have since got Maisy from the Blue cross animal rescue, she was £5.00
and I got Charlie from the rspca, he was £10 and they neutered him for me too, I gave £20 for him though.Generous as i am.
I got Tilly from my cousin free . I got Trixie and Amber from a local breeder/piggy boarding place I knew nothing at the time about rescues I paid £25 for the pair. I rescued ronald and donald but gave the lady £15, I rescued ringo and star so paid nothing there, Digby was £25 as I had him neutered , Pickle and Jazz I gave a small donation to the rescue it felt a little small for such great piggies So far that is it
I have paid anything from £7.00 (from a breeder) to £19.50 at P@H. I think the P@H prices are a bit high, but I desperately wanted to rescue my two from the excessive heat and noise in the store at the time. I don't think they like me there  'cos I tell them when I don't think they have things right for the pigs or hamsters. At least they've stopped keeping GPs with rabbits now.
I payed £10 for weenie from a breeder, £20 for badger from p@h, Lili and lola were free, Lottie cost me £3, Bertie was free, Sid was £20 from p@h, Bam-bam was £12 from a pet shop, Bella was £20 from p@h
i got my two boys free from a friend of my mums, who happened to be a breeder (not for selling, she kept every single one). she let me come round and choose from a big group of boys and taught me how to handle them etc before i took them too
i would never pay pets at home prices, although when i go in there to buy stuff, ive fallen in love with some gorgeous piggies, its been hard to resist.
Emily was from a horrible pet shop & was being overlooked because she was bigger than the other babies & was being put in with rabbits & boars. I had to get her out so that cost me £10.
Spud was from a breeder/friend already neutered - £25 (I think)
Magpie was £2.50p and pregnant with 4 babies from a back yard breeder keeping his poor piggies in mud & all interbreeding.
One has been kindly given to me as a birthday gift :-* and all the others have found me somehow!
Herbie is my first ever guinea pig and he was free cause me and my folks rewckon her next door neighbours caught him when he was wandering round the front of the street and dumped him in our back garden. (no he didn't belong to them) but when i get some more I am going to look at places where they want people to give them good loving homes as I have said to my OH when Herbie goes over to Rainbow Bridge I want another 2.
When I bought Bob and Trev they cost £30 for the 2 of them from a local garden centre. When poor Trev passed away I bought Fred from the same place but he was £26 on his own but he is worth every penny!
